When it rains...

So I'm going to go to CP Wednesday and Thursday. Current forecast says scattered thunderstorms for most of Wednesday, but since the trip is paid for and the time off taken it's too late to back out.

So my question for everyone is, what do you typically do when it's raining at cedar point? I know most of the coasters shut down in the rain. Thanks everyone!

You're right, a lot of coasters do shut down depending on the weather. Skyhawk and Power Tower are usually open in steady rain. What do I do when it rains? I usually seek shelter under various buildings. I sometimes just wait the rain out, or go to the arcade.

Just how bad are the rains you're looking at? I'll probably be in sail camp when the rains are coming(because I'm not a Sandusky native).

I'm not really sure how bad the rain will be because the forecast changes every time I look at it. I'm not from the area either, were coming from metro Detroit.

1st next Wendsday is way to far out to put any stock in the forecast. As you said it keeps changing. 2nd more often than not summer storms are spotty and don’t last all day and usually an hour or less.

Are you staying on Point? If so just go chill in your room and wait it out. I take a look at the radar on my phone and then decide if it is worth trekking back to the car and waiting it out there. I also carry a small powerbank so we can just sit back and play games or whatever on the phones. We also carry some 97 cent Walmart ponchos in case it really pours. Not sure what the blue CP ones cost but certainly more than a buck.

The plus side is a good downpour clears the park out a bit so the lines are shorter when it lets up. :) It needs to be late or the a big system on radar before I will leave due to some rain. I am planning on driving up tomorrow morning and this afternoon NOAA called for 30% chance of rain. Now it has been pushed back until night and will probably change again.

I figured even if we get less time because it rains, the shortened lines will make up for it. Last time I went a few years ago it rained for two hours so we hung out in the arcade and it cleared up 6pm and for the rest of the day everything was practically a walk on. Also we are not staying on point, we booked our package at the express hotel, so we be staying there Wednesday night.

If I see rain coming, I go eat something. Then head to a ride with a shaded/covered queue when the rain slows a bit. I'll walk around the park in a downpour if it's not too cold out.

Oooh, maybe we'll run into each other. I'll be on Point Tuesday-Thursday. If it rains, I might catch a show, or just wait it out in my hotel room. Wouldn't be the first time. :P

Proud 5th Liner and CP fan since 1986.

I have blue and black hair so I stick out in a crowd so maybe lol.

It looks like this entire upcoming weekend (June 8-9-10) will be soggy. It is the Run and Ride event, and last time I checked on Saturday, Sandusky was forecasted for over 2 inches of rain (of course it KEEPS changing).

Instead of 'Run-N-Ride', maybe we should change it to 'Splish-N-Splash'....maybe reroute us through Cedar Point Shores??

Gonna be a gross run for us...Happy I re-sprayed my shoes with waterproofer earlier this week!

Oh well, ....bring on the puddles

I usually just leave and go to Chet and Matt’s or someplace.

Or if you have swimwear on you could go to CP shores or the beach and go swimming.

^Not recommended if it's thundering.

Had stuff to do this morning so we didn’t arrive until 2 Friday. Not a drop all day and as I was checking radar in between rides it all went about 30 miles south of Sandusky while my wife was texting that the rain was sideways in CBus and looked bad in Mason as well. Welcome to Ohio!

BTW, I stopped by Professor Delberts today and said hi to CoasterKyle. Nice meeting you!

A lot of the storms are predicted to be south next week, which matches the recent pattern Ohio lakeshore communities have been having.
