If you could change a ride layout?

If you could change a ride layout in the park and re-brand it as a new ride which one would you pick? Everyone knows how much I love Rougarou on here so I would change the pressure points of the track layout so people wouldn't complain about head banging. The part I would change is the turn going into the brake run so it's more gradual going into it. It doesn't bother me any, but I can see that as a pressure point. I would also have more of a gradual feel going into the corkscrew so there's no headbanging there.

The other ride I would change is Raptor. The only part of that ride I can't stand is that last turn going into the brake run. To me it just slams you in there. I wish that part was more gradual like Banshee at Kings Island.

I've got a some suggestions.

Millennium Force:

I would honestly keep the first parts of Millennium's layout(drop, overbanked turn, turn into floater airtime hill), but then I would just like the island part to be a huge spaghetti bowl of airtime hills and banked turns to take full advantage of 93 mph, then go back over the floater hill, then turn to the station. I would make that airtime hill by the station a double up/down and make the final overbank turn into some kind of odd element where the track drops downward, then quickly rises into a tophat, then gently glides into the brake run.

I actually dreamed I did that after the coaster got destroyed by a bolt of lightning, except it also had 2 lift hills. The original one was kept, and then another one was added in frontier town that stretched to 380' high and dropped in the lake. It was awesome.

Skyhawk:

Instead of leaving the ride with 2 or so full swings, I'd give it 4-6 full swings.

Raptor:

I think it would be really cool to have a heartline roll on an inverted coaster.

Valravn:

I would probably want to change the whole layout. Give it a cobra roll, Heartline roll, and other elements that would be unusual for a dive coaster. Make it a whole spaghetti bowl with some zero g moments and inversions. It would have been kind of cool if the coaster took place mostly underground though.

Magnum:

Gahh, I have such a soft spot for this ride! If any of you have ridden it recently you would know how rough it's gotten(especially in the back.) I would probably streamline a few transitions (or the whole ride)and the pretzel turnaround so it's less painful for your legs. I'd also probably get rid of the trim brake.

Power Tower:

When you're launched down, it bounces you closer to the ground.

Top Thrill Dragster:

Instead of just the final brakes, it does some airtime hills and banked turns and stuff, or it can also take you through a quick journey across the island that MF's layout somewhat occupies. Maybe the two coasters can interact. TTD hauls at 120 mph, so why not take advantage of that and the height?

Well, there ya go. I probably play too much Planet Coaster! XD

All I got out of your post was two bowls of spaghetti and pretzels.

You must be hungry.

What I meant by the spaghetti bowls is the track of the coaster is twisting and turning around itself. As for the pretzel loop, I was referring to Magnum's turnaround.

Let's just have the end of Top Thrill Dragster begin with the lift hill of Millennium Force.

2 rides in one sounds like an interesting idea. Actually you wouldn't need a lift hill because it might have enough speed to rocket up the lift.

Add steel topper track to Mean Streak, and have it do all kinds of crazy airtime hills and inverted twists.

Gemini 100- 6/11/01

This will be an extremely unpopular opinion, but, I would give Gemini the Twisted Colossus treatment. Double the fun, and, if ran correctly, would still race somewhat.

Skyhawk06's avatar

Actually, DRE420, consider me on your same boat. Gemini would be a pretty fun TC style coaster. Or we could RMC Blue Streak! (Okay...Not really)

Really, I think it's starting to need a re-track. Even when I was doing front it was rough(and not the fun kind of rough). But if we want to talk about rides in need of a re-track, it's Magnum XL 200.

I doubt they would of done anything fun like that. Valravn was a record breaker and we all know the park loves the record breaking. And Valravn spells Ohio from a certain location. At this point they are just looking for record breakers. We need another Maverick.

RIP Mean Streak
Past Cedar Point Ride Attendant

Raptor: Replace trains with new vest restraint trains, even if this means only 3 seats in a row, eliminate mcbr, add an inversion near Chickie and Pete's, use magnetic brakes after 180 degree turn into brake run to slow it down, use the brake run, if enough room as the "mcbr" like on Banshee. Actually, just replace Raptor with Banshee...lol

TTD: As previously mentioned, add to it but only if the launch system could actually become reliable.

MF: Add 3 or 4 more ejector air hills at the end of the ride. There is a lot of wasted space between the railroad station and the final overbanked turn. That overbanked turn could be low to the ground so there is enough speed with the extra bunny hills. A bunny hop into the brakes is always a great way to end a ride.

Rougarou: Replace trains with 3 seat vest restraint trains, eliminate mcbr, add a zero G roll like on Bizzaro at Great Adventure and another inversion.

Gatekeeper: While I think the layout is nearly perfect, I wish that final dip went lower for more airtime, so they need to move that driveway under it. The mcbr should be on the brake run or just before it. It seems that if there is enough room for 2 trains to stop outside of the station, why not use the lift hill as a block if there isn't enough room for a 3rd train to sit outside of the station. As with MF, run the lift slower until the brakes are cleared for the train that is on the lift to stop at the end then speed it up.

I get that this is a silly thread, but you've crossed the line. Take that blasphemy elsewhere.

And where exactly does THEIR money come from?

XS NightClub's avatar

Apparently from people who are happy with the ride layouts as they are.

So, why didn't they just leave Mean Streak alone?

Dvo's avatar

Because its ridership numbers were quite bad, as a result of people not being happy with the ride experience.

So basically, needlessly cripple the capacity of these rides, two of which are among the most ridden in the park?

The lift hill is a block, and is used as such.
