Later hours this Sunday

Does anyone know why this Sunday is open until 10 whereas most weekends they close at 8?

Thanks in advance!

Probably becuase it is Columbus Day Weekend. So Monday is a holiday for no one but bankers and some government employees.

Ok thank you... I always thought more people got out of school the following Monday (Oct 15) but maybe that's only near me.

^ and all the school kids. Our local school is out both Friday and Monday...more pointless days off that could be taken off at the end of the year or towards a later start in August (don't get me started).

If you enjoy floating in a sea of warm bodies, Sunday is the day for you. It's traditionally a very busy day in the park.

Out of curiosity, why would anyone have the following Monday off? Here at Mount Union we have it off, but that is because of "Fall Break"; something I had never heard of before teaching here.

Park is opened until 10 since Monday is Columbus Day. Akron and Kent don't have Monday off. Rip.

Based on the the weather forecast this weekend, its looking like the perfect storm for large crowds this weekend.

This will be the perfect weekend to go to the park if you are into needing to be made whole. I can already imagine the posts that are coming on Monday.

If you are the type of person who needs everything to be perfect when you visit the park, this is a great weekend... to stay the hell away. The line for guest services alone will drive you nuts.

They should add Guest Services to Fast Lane Plus. Wait Less, Complain More!

I'm a banker and we don't even get Columbus Day off anymore. They took it off the holiday list about 5 years ago. (We did get an extra personal day instead to make-up for going from 10 holidays per year to 9, lol)

Will I be able to pick up my renewal FLP at the Magnum entrance prior to early entry on Sunday? I know that regardless of rain Saturday will be a mess after early entry, so I will go to pass activation after early entry before the shows, entertainment, and haunts start. Also, is there a Platinum pass discount for Night of the living fed?

I was able to pick mine up at the Resort (AKA Magnum) entrance back in August. However, when we first arrived for Early Entry they didn't have any wristbands to hand out. Luckily (I guess?), the line to get in was slow enough that wristbands eventually arrived, saving me from having to go elsewhere to get it.

Columbus Day weekend, especially Saturday, was always busy with the amount of guests in the park when I worked there. I would say even more so than 4th of July, Memorial Day, or Labor Day.

We're heading out this weekend, even though the forecast that I looked at looks a little dodgy - pretty good chance of rain both Friday and Saturday. We are bringing some friends with us Friday night, and were thinking of parking in the Shores lot to make a beeline for Steel Vengeance early entry. Will we be able to buy Bring-a-Friend tickets at the Resort gate? I've never bought them anywhere but out from before.

Next 2 weeks are the nastiest attendance wise from what I recall reading last year. And being there myself I can say even the Friday crowds were sizable.

Sacrificing playing video games to ride roller coasters.

Our local public schools do not get Columbus Day off, nor do we at Heidelberg University (although our "Fall Break" is on Friday, not Monday). But Columbus Day in the U.S. is also Thanksgiving Day in Canada, so the park may see a larger number of visitors from Ontario this weekend as well.

I work in Custodial at Muskingum University, and our students are off on both Monday & Thursday for their fall break.

Speaking of later hours on Columbus Sunday (7th) ... It looks as if there is NOT going to be any *outdoor scare zones* open ... This has been my go-to trip the last several years, as it's the only time I can make it ... Hate to have to bag it !

Can anyone confirm ??
