No reentry on Halloweekends?

My son has a Platinum Pass, with CP being his home park. Last night he was down to Kings Island and won a huge stuffed Tiger at one of the booths. They asked to see his drivers licence, and then said they couldn't hold it until closing. Understandable. They suggested he go to customer service, where they would hold it, for $5. When he mentioned that he might as well just take it to his car, they told him there is no reentry on Halloweekends. Anyone know if this is Cedar Points policy? I was at CP 3 weeks ago and came in and out to my camper as much as I wanted. Thanks for any help or experiences you've had.

No such policy at CP. I Believe the KI policy was in response to people going out to their car , drinking, then returning hammered. CPs event seems a bit more family oriented so might be less of an issue. With the resorts I’m not sure how they would handle it anyway.

People getting hammered or not no reentry is crazy. That would mean if we went down to the park for HalloWeekends we wouldn't be able to go back to the hotel part way through the day like we did in the summer. It's different for a concert or sporting event that lasts maybe 4 hours people don't expect to go back to their car but at the amusement park that is ridiculous.

Most likely a misunderstanding, it happens.

Thanks XS. It does say no reentry after 6 during Halloweekends, and the $5 was no big deal. Good points from both sides. KI has no resorts in close walking distance. Is there a bus to Great Wolf lodge there, like CP has to Breakers?

That seems... odd. I can understand that they don't want someone who is hammered coming back in and causing a problem, but this seems a little much. Do they not have security at the gate? They could simply amend their policy to say anyone who is visibly intoxicated can be denied entry.

Although, I guess the sheer volume of people could maybe make this daunting.

I believe Carowinds had the same policy in place for Scarowinds when I was there last year. Daytime operations were standard, but there was no reentry for Scarowinds. Then again - I had a two hour break where everyone had to leave when daytime operations ended, which provided the hotel/dinner/get sweatshirts break we would have needed reentry for in the first place.

That's pretty crazy if you ask me, glad CP is that way it is along with the policies they have combined with a family friendly crowd and event.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

The two hour break where everyone has to exit and then lineup at the turnstiles again is not fun. Even if you want to keep it an evening hard ticket event, do it the way Magic Kingdom does. After 7pm a wristband or handstamp is required to partake in any atttaction.

Carowinds and Canadas Wonderland do have that same policy. Not sure on Dominion

I seem to recall SFSTL having the same no reentry policy in the evenings during Halloween as far back as the 80’s. On KIC there are a lot of complaints about intoxicated teens at KI even with the policy.

Knotts has had a no re entry policy for Scary Farm pretty much since the beginning.

Even Dorney Park is no re-entry once Haunt begins, I believe after 7pm. But no, Cedar Point didn’t have that policy. Like someone else said, that would be a REALLY hard sell what with the on-site accommodations.

Policy KI has that I don't like is... At close all the stands shut down. You was waiting till close to get that smurf cone. Nope it's 30 seconds after close. I know it's because they hire under 18. I just love that at CP the Sweet Spot and other stands are still open after close.

Not that I have seen this year. For a 10:00 close in the middle of summer I got off Magnum at about 10:05 and everything was already closed and lights off on my walk back to the main lot.

Edit: save for the funnel cake stand at the front of the park.

KI has had that policy for as long as I can remember. It's not a big deal once you know it exists and can plan accordingly.

KI Haunt used to be much more of an adult oriented event up until 2-3 years ago. I was there one saturday night and the park abruptly stopped selling alcohol around 10pm. Every single stand closed. I asked what happened and they said there were just so many drunk people and fights were starting, etc. The following year when I went back 75% of the stands that had sold alcohol in years past no longer did. They really made it difficult to get too intoxicated with the distance between the stands and the lines, once you got to them.

That seems like a missed opportunity. If I were in charge, I would have simply raised prices.

Brandon

That has proven not to be a deterrent when it comes to this kind of event. All you have to do is look what the major stadiums charge for a beer and they still have to shutter them part way through the game.

That just means they weren't charging enough. :-)

Even folks with the disposable income to get drunk off $10 beers don’t like to be fleeced. You raise the price to much and people will just bring their alcohol in disposable flasks.
