Something Old that You’d Like To See Return To The Point!

I thought the blog post by Tony was interesting. I really like the little things that are done to the park like what they did with Mine Ride. Do any of you have any ideas for more like this too be done? I would like to see the Magnum tunnel effects return! And as much as I’d like to see rides come back, I think the idea is to list little things that help round out the park such as signs or ride effects! What do you think?

I'll go ahead and be the first to say what is probably gonna be the most common answer.

A good, old fashioned log flume. White Water Landing! I know Mack still makes them and they still use the traditional boats with from what I can tell in POV videos no restraints. They actually make boats that can seat up to 6 people in a single line instead of the typical maximum of 4. Slightly increasing capacity.

Got to ride 3 new to me flumes this past summer and I loved each one. The best being the flume located at Morey's. It was so cool going under the boardwalk and floating through different scenes down there.

Me! I am pretty old (according to some young whippersnappers). 57

New trains/restraints on Mine Ride that allow for a 40" height requirement. The fact that Iron Dragon, Mine Ride, and Millennium Force all have the same requirement should tell the park something about their definition of a true family attraction.

Have Vekoma or someone design you a train or new restraints that will allow for a low height requirement.

While I agree in theory, you have to wonder if the cost would be justifiable. Rougarou cost $2 million to convert, and you have to figure most of that covered the trains. Let's say $500,00/each, and that was for trains that were presumably already designed.

Is a ~$1.5 million investment in CCMR justifiable?

^I guess the park would have to look at how long they want the mine ride to stick around. It turns 50 next summer. If the plan is to get another 25+ years out of the ride a major refurbishment could be justifiable.

3 new trains, some track modifications, support upgrades, magnetic brakes and new controls could very much be worth the lets say $5 million investment. Maybe a show building too.

If the park realistically only wants the ride around another 5-10 years then no. I don't believe it would be worth it. I wholeheartedly believe the park needs to improve their selection of family friendly coasters. I would totally be on board with a Major Mine Ride refurbishment if one of the things that happened due to that refurbishment is a 40-42" height requirement.

Where to begin?...

Fascination,

Paddlewheel -seems to be missed very much,

I do remember the Funhouse from decades ago -I loved the upside down room with Grandma + the cat,

even sort of miss the giraffe in the kid area near the carousel.

A 'newer' missing show would be All Wheels Extreme.

Something retro -the Big Slide

Mine Ride definitely needs new restraints. It's the most uncomfortable ride for me in the park. Most times, I'm stapled in really tight due to the restraints locking in place for the entire car on the train. If they made it more like Adventure Express at Kings Island, it would be a decent ride. Until they make some sort of change to the restraints, it's unlikely I'll set foot on the ride again.

As for something I would like to see return, Paddlewheel Excursions.

^^ OMG! I remember these...I completely had forgot about the fruit shaped drinks. Thanks for the reminder

How about a full restoration of the Blue Streak trains to something like their 1995 condition?

A new light package on Magnum that resembles the original?

Bayern Kurve with the full scenery package?

Western Cruise?

Satellite Jets?

Frozen Coke?

Who remembers those little keychains where you would look through it to see your picture?

I do, but I don’t want them back. 😆

In the 70’s did CP have those feathers with the alligator clip, that were thinly veiled marijuana paraphernalia?

Can someone link me a picture of those? They sound cool.

Demon Drop. The original is definitely the grandfather of Tower of terror but I think it’s time to up the ante on power tower !

I have a photo keychain from the Cincinnati Zoo of me, my future wife, and her 3 kids from 2000. They were 7-10 years old at the time. It is very nostalgic to me. I would say that those are obsolete now with cell phones.

Where would you go to buy an alligator clip without the feather? Asking for a friend.

I would like to see a cat and mouse coaster to round out the line up. I miss Wildcat.

I also would like to see a dark ride, although the "Earthquake" and "pirate Ride" were pretty lame even back in the day, they were very memorable and were "Must Rides" when younger.

A couple more flat rides, The double ferris wheel was awesome and had some real thrill.

Also miss the fun house. Still remember the upside down room, the florescent blinking dots, the slide at the end, and it was fun!

Would like to see a re-do on the black out room for Halloweekends, make it like KI blackout with the rope and open it all year as an attraction. Small staff and fast line.

And the swan boats were fun to paddle and fun to watch.

Sorry for the mess. Signature under construction.

Last time I checked you could still buy these but you couldn't buy them separately, they were a bonus item in a larger package of crap I had no use for and didn't want to pay for.

Buzz bars on Blue Streak. PTC still makes them (although a somewhat modernized locking mechanism might be needed) and if RideMan reads this he can tell you all about how bodies just don't bend in such a way to totally come out of a buzz bar restraint.
