What was new when you first visited CP?

I wouldn't have laughed...I've got enough friends in the UK that I'm used to the "holiday" reference. And loo.....I LOVE that one!

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

Chaos was new 1997, I was there in late September and Power Tower was being built. No one could get on any big coaster. I rode Mine Ride and Iron Dragon which I hated. Believe it or not a begged to leave early because I was tired.

I became obsessed with Cedar Point in Jan. 2002 when I found out about Wicked Twister. I never even dreamed of riding a coaster untill late May. On May 8 I finally got courage to ride Gemini, Corkscrew, and Blue Streak. I went again in July and I went on everything. Wicked Twister is now my favorite and Top Thrill Dragster will probably be my new favorite.

I would never dream of leaving early now, I don't even want to leave when the park closes.

I beleive the new ride when i first visited the point was Demon Drop. I don't remember much of that trip. Actuallyu nothing at all. I was only a little over a year old.

Hah! I found a picture from my very first trip to Cedar Point. I am very little. . . I am the boy on the right.

The other images are just some silly "crew logos" that I was messing with for fun.

***Edit. . .Is it OK to post links to pictures?? I hope so. . . if not, sorry!! I wasn't sure. . .

Well...I was born in 1979 and my brother was 10 years old at the time and old enough to go on most major rides. I have no clue the exact time when I first visited CP but I do have a very faint memory of going with my family and my grandma and I was still toddler aged at that point so it was probably any time between 1980-82 which Oceana, Ocean Motion, and White Water Landing were new durring that time period.

"Is it OK to post links to pictures??"

Sure it is, with some rules, of course. There's a thread around here someplace discussing one aspect, but to sum it up really fast, don't post illegal pictures. (Someone hopped the barriers at CP to take pictures of the new ride... not a good thing.) And also, don't post anything... um... 'non-family oriented.' Oh, and nothing in violation of copyright. I think that covers it.

17 straight years of real thrills and counting...

Hey thanks. . . Yeah hehe I guess my picture is family oriented enough.

I hate waiters who serve minors alcohol when they really don't want it.

My parents took me when I was 15---I think the new thing was the Gemini but I can't be sure. When I re-visited in 1989, it was the unforgetable Magnum! From that day on, I was hooked! :)

MEAN STREAK!

It was my 7th Birthday.

Das RUCKUS baby. Ruckus.

When I first visited Cedar Point in 1993, there were two new rides that I begged my dad to take me to the park for. The first one was Magnum and the second one was recently added Mean Streak. Isn't it great that Magnum is still around after 30 years? Long live the Magnum XL 200

My first visit was in 1973. As best as I can tell, nothing new was added that season.

Jumbo Jet: I remember bring SO excited the year I was finally tall enough to ride.

I'm not sure if it's the very first season I went, but the earliest debut I can recall being present for was Iron Dragon.

Proud 5th Liner and CP fan since 1986.

My first visit was the summer of 2006. Skyhawk was the brand new attraction. I got to go back a year later when Maverick was new. I freaking loved both and still do to this day. My next visit wasn't until 2013 but I've been able to get back almost every year since.

I know I visited somewhere in 2011 as one of my first main visits.

My most recent 'first visit' that turned me into a CP fan was 2016, where valravn was new.

I first went as a newborn in 2000, and Millennium Force had just opened a few weeks prior. The first visit I vividly remember was 2007, when Maverick first opened

What was new when I first went might have Mantis or Power Tower, not sure. What I definitely was first aware of being new when I went was Millennium Force and not being tall enough to ride the first year (having to be 54 inches at the time).

This is an interesting thread resurrection. At first glance, I couldn't help but notice replies from Mr. Scott and Pete...and made the instant realization of how weirdly connected some of us become through this medium. Indeed, Facebook was not the dawn of social media; rather, it was sites just like this.

So, according to my parents, I have been to Cedar Point every year I have breathed the air of Earth. That said, this topic made me think of my fist conscious memories of the park.

I was born in 1977 along with Star Wars (coincidence?.....I think not!)....but my first real memories of Cedar Point start around 1982. I remember seeing commercials for White Water Landing (true to the topic of the original post), and riding in those logs with my dad and two sisters. That is the first true new ride I recall...and I also remember being completely terrified by Earthquake (an old dark ride) at the same time.

Favorite ride at the time? The Sky Slide...

How time flies.

Kid Arthur's Court in 1982, I was 3. I froze up on the cargo net and Dad had to come rescue me.

Also remember running off of the Dodgems and slipping on the floor and getting covered in grease. Yeah I was a delight to deal with as a child.
