Cedar Point Live Entertainment 2019

The show lineup has appeared on the official site. The new shows mentioned at Winter Chill Out like Beach Blanket Beagle and Nashville Hits are listed.

Fire & Ice appears to now be more directly tied to Cedar Point Nights. Interestingly it apparently will play until 11:00PM on evenings when the park is only open until 10:00PM.

"Thank the Phoenicians!"

So I went to see the show at Red Garter on Memorial Day, and it was without a doubt the worst show in that venue since I started watching shows there in the 1990’s. The sound system is either damaged beyond belief or the tech in the booth is completely deaf. Everything is just an indistinct fuzzy mess. The instruments are overdriven to the point of just sounding like noise, and they completely crush the vocals to the point that I could barely recognize half of the songs that I DID know. The “choreography”, if you want to call it that, looks like a parody of a Bill Murray and Gilda Radner Saturday Night Live sketch, and the transitions between songs are sloppy and randomly timed. If you are doing a medley, you need to maintain the musical flow without hesitation between songs, and if you AREN’T, you need to leave time for applause. A random 1 to 3 second pause tossed in just makes everything feel awkward. It seemed like the cast would finish a number then look at the booth for permission to continue. I have no idea if the actual musicians are any good, because of the lousy mixing and the “turn it to 11” volume control.

Note to Live-E: This is a modern country show, the presets from the Halloweekends rock shows with the packed house won’t cut it. Try dropping the volume of the instruments by half, drop the dancing if the cast doesn’t have the chops for it or practice more if they do, and maybe let the ‘bass’ singer concentrate on his higher singing range where he sounds best.

I will be there next week . Is it worth going to it, because I can not stand Volume of sound systems? If people were teachers; what would you give them? My uncle says a "C"

The best place to enjoy the Garter show sound is in the Panda Express dining area.

I have no earthly idea why they run all of the shows so painfully loud.

Why do they play the music so loud? Look who is sitting at the controls. A twenty-something kid who has damaged his hearing at rock concerts and listening to music, at full volume, with ear buds.

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

Honestly I think the Panda Express seating area will be where I experience it next. I know these shows can have growing pains, but I’m not sure this baby is capable of growth without a complete revamping of the arrangement and some TLC by a TALENTED manager. Regardless, I will give it another try.

Two thumbs down from Siskel and Rugrats2001!

Bluestreaker: Wake up you old fool. You slept through the show.
Rugrats2001: Who's a fool? You watched it.

It may be worth sending a polite version of your comments to the park. I emailed them about the Bandstand USA show a few years ago, which had fabulous vocals when it was a cappella, but the accompaniment track was deafeningly loud. I actually got a response saying they'd pass along my comments to the audio engineer, and a few months later I gave the show another try and the mix was actually good. Don't know if my email made any difference, but at least they fixed it.
