Big coasters down...???

Is the Cedarpoint Queue time website legit? Currently says Maverick, Millennium, TTD, and Valravn were all down???! I know about Valravn but the other three??? Seems extreme. I hate when CP closes crap because they aren't staffed up. Has happened in years past and its irresponsible IMHO. They always claim mechanical issues. Love CP and have been season pass holder majority of my life but damn....get it under control.

Good first post LOL. FYI, if that site says those rides are down, that could mean a 10 minute closure for puke all the way to an all-day closure.

What's wrong with my "first post". FYI still all down. Going on 5 hours....

Ok well I literally just watched the webcam and MF is clearly operating, so to answer your original question, no the website is not “legit”.

^ The website is very accurate about open / closed status (wait times are a bit more iffy when they post a wait time, the wait time changes and they take their time updating it). The data comes straight from the park. It’s posting at 75 minutes.

Looking at queue times I don’t really see what the problem is. The only rides that are closed that have been closed for more than like 15-20 minutes are Blue Streak and Dragster (which looks like it’s been closed all day or 99% of the day) and obviously Valravn.

A few rides were down earlier but they’re up now.

Ok awesome good to know coasterbill. They were all down for a significant part of the day. Hopefully we get better luck for the next few days when we are there. And I have a picture I took of the screen it was at least 4-5 hours for all of those rides. I kept checking in from work. lol.

And if you look at Twitter everyone is going crazy about "all the big rides being down" today. I realize that sounds annoying but just corroborating evidence.

I love how people think they have Cedar Point management so figured out by thinking they would ever close the bigger rides due to staffing and then lie by saying it’s down for mechanical reasons. If you knew anything, you’d know management does everything in their power to get the more popular rides up and running ASAP. Just remember that for the future whether you want to believe it or not.

Many of us have been at the park when the mechanics are working tirelessly just to get a ride open (TTD, for example) even if closing time is 30, 20, or even just 15 minutes away. Cedar Point is certainly worthy of its own criticism in many areas, but the work that goes into getting the rides up and running is the farthest from them.

If you have really been a season pass holder for years, I would think you have a grasp of why guests get told a ride is down for mechanical reasons. There is nothing more to be said. A ride rarely goes down for emotional reasons, so you can rest assured that 1) it is mechanical, 2) the details are really none of your business, and 3) the park is doing everything in its power to get the ride up and running, even if it takes them up to closing time.

I promise you that this (#3) is not an experience a guest will enjoy at every park.

On a practical note, I have rarely found any queue-time websites to be very accurate, which was validated by the contradiction posted above.

Promoter of fog.

From what I can remember, the ride wait times shown on the app rely solely on the leadership of that ride location. They are SUPPOSED to call in (to park operations who will then update the app accordingly) any time the wait drastically changes. For larger rides, typically every half hour to keep more accuracy to the app.

The problem with that is each ride gets caught up with other issues and calling your wait time in is very often forgot about. However, any time a ride is down for any reason (weather, mechanical, guest illness, retrieving a valuable article in a restricted area), it is protocol to call park operations to let them know the status of your ride as soon as it happens. Hence why the app is typically accurate when it comes to a ride being CLOSED. It isn’t the fault of the app, it’s more or less the crew remembering to call in their wait times every so often.

As a long-time season passholder (As am I), you should have a grasp of how things work ( or don't). Just calm down, enjoy the park, beach, boardwalk, etc. or just come back another day, It's not the end of the world.

Ah yes, Cedar Point purposely decided to understaff their most popular rides so that they could draw themselves a torrent of negative comments on social media to be read by potentially hundreds of thousands of people. Right...
