When should we be expecting

I’m not expecting anything big for it. Jason already said that it would be wrong to have a 150th celebration without adding a new attraction. Something is coming, but we don’t know what. However, I can see why people would be disappointed with King’s Island getting a possible giga for 2020, and CP not getting something big. But you also have to understand, CP already has big rides as it is. Remember, “coasters are in our DNA”

You realize that Kings Island is less than a 4 hour drive from Cedar Point right? And since you’re on this site, I’ll assume you have a Platinum Pass (and if you don’t, I mean why not?). There is your new attraction. And when you’re not visiting KI riding their new B&M giga, enjoy the best amusement park in the world with the most amazing lineup of roller coasters (even if there is no new attraction next year).

One of the best things about this hobby is there are SO MANY parks to go to. There’s always something new and big opening somewhere, so there’s never a need to be disappointed.

It's not entitled to expect something new on something as sacred as the 150th anniversary. It only comes around once!

^ Ok, you’re clearly trolling. Though there are people who feel that way legitimately.

It's not bad here. Aside from "drone morality" and "wheels being put on backwards" it's pretty chill on this site. The real hilarity is on Facebook and Reddit.

Oh the meltdowns when they announce they are upgrading the Snoopy Bounce... It's gonna be gold Jerry gold!

If you mean the announcement for 2020 plans? Then probably between August 12th and the 19th if past history means anything.

Not predicting nor suggesting, but as we walked the trail earlier this week and headed over the bridge into Frontier Town I commented to my wife how nice it would be if they someday brought the Swan Boats (or something similar) back in some fashion. Is there room to do something like that in the area where the paddlewheel boat used to launch? With no more dinos alive access to the island there, I think it could work well. Although this would not satisfy most enthusiast's taste for a 150th Anniversary addition, it would bring with it a hint of relatively recent nostalgia.

Rusty, I think that is a great idea, sounds enjoyable & it doesn't require a whole lot of area of the lagoon. Unless of course they have alternative plans for that area for CP150.

As I understand it, that area serves as the backstage for Forbidden Frontier.

I highly doubt anything "big" or record breaking is on the horizon....haven't seen any footer construction, clearing, nothing. Just comparing to Kings Island, they've been pouring footers and clearing land for their big addition next year plus an announcement is scheduled for 8-15-19 at 10 pm..

Hope I am wrong but looks like the 150th will be a disappointment. That will suck if they do nothing....Unless they are really doing a spectacular job of hiding whatever they may be currently working on. Kings Island is hard to hide when you have the Eiffel Tower there and you can see for miles and miles.

^It's only a disappointment if you let it be. Consider losing the mindset that if there's not a massive record-breaking coaster (or two, as some folks seem to think the park must add), it will be a disappointment. It turns out there's plenty of improvements the park can & probably should make that are staunchly outside of mega thrill rides. Even this year, it sounds like Forbidden Frontier has been a resounding success. I haven't experienced it, but from what I've seen on here, people seem to really enjoy it. I like to have confidence in the park's management that whatever they do announce, it'll be moving the park in a positive direction.

I hope they bring back some classic entertainment to the Ballroom. Would be awesome to see some Big Bands.

Forbidden Frontier is AWESOME. Very well done by CP. Nice use of what was/used to be shoot the rapids and Millennium Island.

Just meaning disappointment since I grew up during the Kinzel phase where it seemed every so many years CP set the tone with a record breaker. Not saying it needs to be a record breaker but would be nice to add another awesome coaster in my mind.

If they do multiple improvements that will be nice don't get me wrong.

Not a bad idea

It's a wonderful idea, especially for the anniversary year. The coliseum is a landmark within the park, and could become an iconic symbol. Other than the arcade, however, most guests have no idea what's inside...if anything.

Promoter of fog.

I am really surprised that there hasn’t been any markings on the ground, unless they are doing a great job at preplanning.

Considering the park has done a pretty good job of telegraphing that nothing "major" is being built in 2020, it shouldn't be too surprising that we haven't seen any sign of future construction.

Brandon

My guess is an older family attraction returning to the park. Whether it’s Swan Boats, Space Spiral, Pirate Ride or something even smaller, I anticipate something more along the lines of park history and old school entertainment rather than a new thrill ride.

shenanigans.

We've already seen a few updates this year taking the park back several years. Corkscrew received it's "old" paint job. Mine Ride got some love bringing the walls/station around the ride back to what it might have looked like when it opened.

If I could have a past ride back, I'd like White Water Landing.

All I can say that if it ends up being something huge or record breaking props to CP for hiding it so well...that's hard to do with all of us so in tune when we attend the park looking for any markings on the ground and such.

Only place I have not been back to is the open area where Sandcastle used to be. Is that off limits to guests? I can see it from Magnum and it just looks like a lonely open grassy area.
