What would a 500 ft. coaster type be called???

I just spent way too much time reading this thread before I realized it started way back in 2006... Red track? Run out of room after this next coaster? Did I miss something?

Anyway, here’s my suggestion... Mega = 200ft+ and Giga = 300ft+. 200 + 300 = 500 so a 500ft coaster should be called a pipe dream.

Alright, I for one want to see a 500 foot coaster. Here's how you do it:

1. Get Planet Coaster.
2. Go Crazy.

They never said 500' tall, what if it's 500' in length.

200' longer than Pipe Scream --- Pipe Scream XL.

Mystery Solved

A 500-foot non-launched coaster would likely have very few elements after the drop due to the enormous cost of building a 500-foot lift in the first place.

A 500-foot launched coaster would just be a taller version of TTD. Launch, ridiculous hill, brakes, break down. Sound familiar?

I’m not super keen on either of these options, and I don’t think Cedar Point is either.

I have to sort of disagree. I think someone WILL build a coaster that is 500 ft in height, eventually. Whether it is a bigger TTD, or a non-launched coaster, or that crazy idea Arrow had to run a coaster down the side of the Stratosphere in Vegas, who knows.

With that said, I doubt we'll see a lot of them.

In the 16 years Dragster broke 400 ft, we've seen 1 other coaster over 400 ft.

In the nearly 20 years since MF, we've seen 6 other full circuit coasters break 300 ft, including Orion.

Someone will do it, eventually, but we'll see if the ROI works out for them, and you're not going to start seeing them show up at every park.

If this absurd contraption were to ever get built, it's probably close.

^^^ That is a real coaster that will actually be built? Wow...just, wow. And I guess the T Rex track hasn't been built yet but isn't very similar to their Raptor track? I think they've built three of those already. But that S&S concept that has the seats on a pendulum looks awesome. I'll take something new and fun over something ridiculously tall just to be tall.

A 500 foot coaster, they could paint it green and call it The Giant Lake Erie SwampMonster.

It is actually called a “Naga” coaster.

it’s short for “Naganahappenanytimesoon”

^Good one. Honestly I feel like that even if Cedar Point came out and said that they'd be building a 500' coaster, nobody would believe it.

Why would anyone believe it??
Every other 500ft/polercoaster that was announced to be built eventually got officially cancelled or just disappeared from plans never to be mentioned again.

Who has room for such a ride? The best contender for a 500+ coaster is King’s island and they blew it on not even crossing 300.

I don't see a 500 ft. coaster coming in the future. I just think the steel cost would make the project way too expensive, or the layout would be super short, such as a big hill, a banked turnaround, one or two smaller hills and a tall break run. That being said, I would love to see a much longer B&M giga (something a little taller than Fury) that offers different elements than Magnum or Millennium Force, Of course, this will mean something will have to come down that is in the way, such as Corkscrew or Gemini (or both), which is fine with me.

Something that will never happen! I do think CP will get another Giga coaster that will be taller then Fury 325! I do think it will be the very first RMC T-Rex and CP will get the very first one! Dick Kinzel had plans to build another 300ft plus coaster that was gonna go in the back of the park but was scrapped for Gatekeeper!

I would not be surprised to see a coaster eclipse the 325' mark, but I would be surprised if it weren't a B&M.

DragsterD- I was really disappointed that Kinzel didn’t go into any kind of detail about that in his book...
