Thanks for the recommendations!

I hope we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot, but my son wants to stay at the Quality Inn attached to the Thirsty Pony. He was drawn to it because of the water park and the bowling ally.

I am looking forward to my first Winter Chill Out and meeting up with you guys.

They have lazar tag and I believe they have glow bowling.

Hello all,

This will be my 1st Chill Out. Some general questions:

How long is the event? Do we just go to the main gate? What kind of food is usually served?

I really know next to nothing about the event, other than lunch is served and it's a behind-the-scenes look at the park.

Thanks in advance!

I've been going to the event since 2014. Each year, the length of the event has changed. I think it all really depends on what is new for that season.

Also, the food each year has changed. The first year I went, the lunch (Q&A session) was held at castaway bay. They served burgers, fish sandwiches, soups, chips, and desserts. Last year, they had these awesome boneless wings, sandwiches, soups and desserts. It's all very good and filling.

I've been to every one and I would plan on anywhere between 3-5 hours. Lunch is excellent and we have eaten at Hotel Breakers, Chickie's and Pete's and Castaway Bay.

You need to meet at at the main gate at your assigned time. Don't be late!. Last year we went down to Midway Market as a staging area and they served coffee, hot chocolate and had some light breakfast goodies.

The event is first class and you will enjoy it. Hopefully the weather is good that day.

The forecast says cloudy and windy with a high of 44. And occasional gusts over 40MPH, so I would bundle up. The breeze coming off the lake can be brutal.

The weather is gonna suck, but it's February so you get what you get. It just stinks that its basically going to be really nice for the 7 days before Saturday. That wind will be brutal.

CP Coaster Top 10: 1. Steel Vengeance (40 rides to date) 2. Top Thrill Dragster (191 launches to date, 4 rollbacks) 3. Magnum XL 200 4. Millennium Force 5. Maverick 6. Raptor 7. GateKeeper 8. Valravn 9. Rougarou 10. Gemini

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

Regarding this notice on the CP website:

"In case of inclement weather, the event may be postponed to Saturday, March 4. Please plan accordingly."

How bad does the weather have to be for the event to be postponed? How much notice is given if this happens?

Pretty sure their idea of inclement weather means the causeway isn't driveable and the snowpocalypse is upon us. Has WCO ever been pushed to the alternate date?

ROUNDABOUND.

Wasn't the rescheduled date thing put in place after the year the near blizzard conditions hit WHILE the event was going on? Now that was a WCO to remember. If I recall correctly that was the year Rougarou was coming and we got to sit in one of the rows from one of the coaster trains.

I would not call the snow from a couple years ago blizzard conditions. Yes, we had a steady snow throughout the day, but was nowhere near what a blizzard is. It was actually a perfect day for winter chill out if you have never seen the park blanketed in snow.

Rougarou was what, 2 years ago, 2015? So they didn't have an alternate date before then?

I don't think heavy winds would be a reason to reschedule. And they did have the alternate day in place for the 2015 event when it was a snow storm. I think it just came too late for them to reschedule. Coming from the east, that was a terrible drive. Had it been like that this year, I would just stay home. It goes to a good cause so it wouldn't be a total waste.

We had bad weather on the drive in...drove in from the south-east direction. When we were around the Upper Sandusky area, we saw cars off the road everywhere. If it were myself driving, I think I would have called it a day and went home.

The park was covered in crusty ice/sleet/snow mix and was hard to walk on in places. I had made the comment while it was sleeting icy that it was just Dippin Dots!

The park itself was beautiful covered in snow, but, not fun to walk through. We were still happy to be there!

Cant wait for this Sat, this is our #6 Tour and we are sooo excited to go! We'll see everyone that is in the 10:30 group!

During Winter Chill Out I hope you guys can learn what the path will be from Lighthouse Point to the Magnum Gate. As in, along the road to Breakers, or a cut through the Cedar Point Shores parking lot. Trusting we won't have to deal with dodging traffic.

Im sure the weather would have to be pretty bad to make the call to reschedule it. There are a lot of variables that are in play to have to reschedule it...staffing, food, people who have reservations at Castaway Bay and other places. I would say the show will go on unless its a major snowstorm and would be a total washout from rain.

Everyone take lots of pictures tomorrow, as I am unable to go for the first time in awhile. I will be glued to this site late tomorrow night. I have a feeling the official Mean Streak announcement will be tomorrow. I don't think they will be able to hide it any longer...enough pictures have leaked. If they do not discuss, that would be downright cruel...LOL.

They are not hiding anything. Anyone can go to Battery Park or Marblehead and take a look. They just are not talking about it. I'd be shocked if they make any announcements about Mean Streak 2.0 tomorrow.

For those who followed along last year, I won't be doing the live blog tomorrow. Going to focus more on photography than I have at previous events. But we will have any and all news that comes out tomorrow, plus photos over the upcoming days.

If you're attending, temperatures should be in the low 40s at 8:00 a.m., falling to the mid 30s by the afternoon. It will be windy and wind chills will be in the mid 20s in afternoon. Chances are good that it will be dry. Any rain overnight should clear out before sunrise.

Already counting down...we have been waiting for months for this Saturday! Will be sure to bundle up a bit and don our gloves, hat...etc. Last time we were in the park there was some snow the night before and was quite a bit colder. (Was Dec 11th, ...for the Santa Hustle)

Cold or not, we will be in the park with a smile on our face, after all it's about time to "Get To The Point!" :D
