2012 Improvements, Additions, and Changes. Leaks and Announcements

We walked in and around the lights in December with ACE and some of the lights are broken. I wonder if things have been dropped on them.

I wouldn't doubt it... When I was riding this past summer I witnessed many things dropped.... Stupid people trying to take a video on their phone..

The bike/walk path on Cedar Point Drive is interesting. This is the causeway right? Not sure how they will squeeze that in in a couple of spots. I know when the triathalon takes place during a non-busy day it gets pretty tight

Cedar Point Drive is the road leading from Cleveland Rd. (Rte 6), to the causeway, not the actual causeway.

That is just as bad - where are they going to put a walkway on that road? I assume the park is not responsible for that work as that is not owned by them?

Pretty sure they do own the road. They are responsible for repairs on the road, they plow the snow on the road and they patrol it with CPPD. Cedar Point Fire Department has always responded to calls along Cedar Point Road as well.

I'm pretty sure the park does not own Cedar Point Rd. The city is doing the work. The mentioned that a bunch a trees had been cleared out already for it. So, if anyone is in the area, they could tell us which side of the road it is going on. But, my guess is that it will be on the East side of the road (same side as McDonald's).

Wait, I was talking about Cedar Point Road (the Chassuee) because I thought that is what someone mentioned above. If we are talking about Causeway Drive/Cedar Point Drive then no, the park only owns to the stop light at 1st street then the city takes over from there. The land on either side for the most part is owned by Cedar Point though.

So this path, it is connecting the sidewalks from Cleveland Road to where? Is this finally the additional sidewalk that employees have been wanting for years that will now connect the sidewalk beside Thirsty Pony with the sidewalk that ends at Breakers Express?

I assumed from Rt 6 all the way to 1st St.

It is the Chaussuee. The park owns that road? Why would the park own that, and why would the park's fire department respond to calls on that road?

You might notice that the speed limit signs along the Chauseee are all CP signs. Just saying. Doesn't matter, because it has nothing to do with the discussion of improvements. The repave and path are, as many have said, for the section from Cleveland Rd. to the start of the causeway.

That's what I thought. To me, it wouldn't make sense to put it on Chassuee.

My mistake - I missed the "drive" versus "road".

I will have to pay attention to the Chaussee signs - never noted whose they were.

I guess I was confused because I figured since we were talking about Cedar Point improvements, then it was on Cedar Point property and not a city road outside of the park.

Looks like the big screen has been removed already!

RIP DEMON DROP I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU

Shades, it's subtle. But notice the typeface used on the Chaussee signs. It is different from that used on most road signs, but the same as that used on various signs in and around the park. I think it's an Optima variant; looks kind of like Lucida Grande...

Or if you look at the bottom of the speed limit signs it states that it is private property and references the ORC that allows CPPD to enforce the law. The most obvious one is right at the start of the Causeway, just after the intersection.

You might even call him a font of wisdom.

My author website: mgrantroberts.com.

99er, not all of the signs have that notation. I think it is on the first sign on the private road; most of the others are just plain signs.

And it's actually my Mom who is the font expert . It's not really my type of specialty...

Has anyone else been getting tweets about reaching 1 million likes? Can we get to 1,000,000 so they can announce the new coaster already? If not a coaster what would it be cookies?

No coaster will ever be too fast or too tall!

^^I guess I should have stated that I didn't mean every sign on property. But you are correct, it is typically the signs that are at the start of the property so this would be at the beginning of the Causeway and Cedar Point Road. I believe there is one more just past the Tolls as well that states this.
