A ride that CP doesn't have & you wish it would...

Matterhorn is a swing ride with two hills. Super Himalaya is just that- a standard Mack Himalaya/Musik Express with three hills. They’re both pretty old now, they came to CP in the early 70’s as used rides.

My boys were asking me that very question a few weeks ago. Thanks.

The advantage that a lot of the older flat rides have is that they have much lower, or non-existent, minimum height requirements when riding with a companion. Tiki Twirl, Monster, Super Himalaya, and Tilt-a-Wirl my daughter could do when she was below 36", Tiki Twirl being her favorite and she still wants to ride every time we are near.

That said I think putting in a more thrilling flat ride would not be a bad smaller addition to the park. I also think putting in a play yard like they did at Carowinds would be great too. Both are probably pretty low cost compared to their recent additions.

I agree a big play structure would be a very inexpensive way (relatively) to occupy kids not ready for the big thrills. When my youngest was 6-9 he was to big for most of the kiddie rides at SFSTL but was not into coasters or most of the flats. The play structure gave him something to do while mom rested I took my oldest on the bigger rides.

To bad a log flume seems off the table.

There actually did used to be one- one of my fondest memories as a tot was climbing all over Kid Arthur's Court. I think they took it out because of the ball pit (something a lot of play structures have been moving away from because the things tend to be breeding grounds for illness. And poop.) An updated version would be a great thing to have in Kiddy Kingdom.

Proud 5th Liner and CP fan since 1986.

I want to try to predict the next coaster and this seems like a good place to record it.

I think they are going to get a wood coaster but it will not be GCI because they want the height record. So that means Intamin or RMC and I think it will be RMC. It will be over 200' of course. It would be nice if they went for the length record but I don't think so. They may break their own airtime record though.

The polar coaster is possible but I hope they see how lame it is. I would be surprised to see anymore flyers anywhere.

Because that worked out so well for Kings Island?

Wood coasters have their limits. Look at Son of Beast and Mean Streak. Both no longer exist because they got too rough and unenjoyable to ride over time. Wood coasters don't need to break records to be enjoyable. Just look at Mystic Timbers at Kings Island. It's a great ride and very enjoyable.

"Traditional" wood coasters have their limits, no doubt. But to his point, I do think that RMC could do a wood coaster topper-track model that could go over 200', and be just fine.

With that said... I don't expect another RMC as a wood coaster. They don't ride like a traditional woodie, which many agree is what the park is missing, other than Blue Streak. My deep love for Thunderhead (not a euphamism) makes me also want a GCI woodie, and I think the former STR site is a great spot for it.

A fine place for a new dark ride too. IMHO.

Agreed on hiding a dark ride in the old STR site. The beach along the parking lot and back would be a beautiful view for a traditional wood coaster, if you’re going to build it might as well showcase it.

Absolutely in love with the smaller GG woodies popping up like Oscar's Wacky Taxi at Sasame Place this season. Something like that, with 2 trains and a 42" (36" with adult) would be perfect in the park. Heck, even where the old Stadium was! ;)

I agree that CP could use some additional flats added. I'd be okay with Corkscrew being removed for 2-3 new flat rides. Like a Mondial Topscan, Gerstlauer Sky Roller, or a true 400ft tall free fall ride!

I think I'm in the minority here, but put me in the camp that hopes Corkscrew never gets removed.

I agree Oscar's Wacky Taxi (and InvadR at Busch Gardens) would be a perfect compliment to Cedar Point's existing attractions especially with their less-than-48-inches ride requirements. The fact that Cedar Point has only one roller-coaster with a less-than-48-inch ride requirement is a real deficiency, especially considering adults cannot comfortably ride Wilderness Express with their children.

Tall and fast not so much upside down...

Of course a wooden coaster doesn't need records, but I was making a prediction and I think they will try the wooden hyper because that is what Cedar Point does. I think I prefer Intamin, but again, I was making a prediction. Maybe they will build a coaster without claiming records, but I doubt it. Once you accept that, then it becomes difficult to see a GCI at Cedar Point. The current record is close enough to 200' for them to not try to go over that barrier.

Ahem, Maverick would like to disagree. You can be an amazing coaster without being tallest, fastest, longest, etc...

I think the idea of an intamin woodie would be awesome to have at cedar point. So, would they go with RMC or Intamin. I would say RMC with how well Steel Vengeance has been recived in spite of the accident. I think it makes Maverick feel tamer.

Even with Maverick they tried to claim the world's first terrain coaster...a weird claim. It is possible but Cedar Point went right back to building records.

Yep...You think that's weird, try their claim with skyhawk being the world's tallest swing ride. But who would build a record breaking woodie for cedar point?
