Bon Aire section and other exterior changes to Hotel Breakers

There's also casinos in Cleveland, Detroit and Toledo which are CP's main markets. I don't know if anyone would travel to CP if there was one available to them locally. Unless they install some ski slopes at CP, which is impossible, I just can't think of anything that would draw any kind of crowd. CB is the best you're going to get.

Casinos in Ohio are regulated and their locations are named in Ohio's constitution. The other options here are the Ohio Lottery Racinos, and those licenses are associated with race tracks around the state. Cedar Point has neither.

I do remember that when casino gambling was still under consideration in Ohio, Cedar Point was a big supporter of it. They were hoping that a year round resort/casino could come to the peninsula and I think we were told the plans were to re-use and reconfigure part of the main parking lot for it.
Sadly for the Point, voters approved an amendment to the constitution to include casinos in Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, and Toledo only.

Yeah, way to go Ohio voters. You did exactly what the developers asked.

The honeymoon phase in Ohio has wore off with the casinos. Only a matter of time before it all evolves into what happened to Atlantic City.

The situation in Atlantic City has no similarity to casino operations in Ohio. In Cleveland, the Horseshoe downtown and both raceinos are all doing good business and going strong.

True, it's still relatively new. I just don't see it being a success long term with the possibility of the state making an amendment to allow more to be built in the future.

I go a lot and if those joints are crying poor (which they are) I don't get it. Some nights you can't find a seat.
They post signs and billboards that say things like "3 Million in Payouts So Far This Month!" and I say "yeah, and 2.9999 went right back in"

There is such a thing as casino fatigue once the initial excitement wears off. But don't think they didn't already think of all that in their planning. Our Hollywood here in Columbus is building an attached hotel on the adjacent lot, but they're waiting until things level off for good before deciding how big to make it.

Anyone else wonder where the fitness area will go?

Looked like it was off to the left of the main corridor from the front entrance.

It is my understanding that any amendments to the constitution have to be approved by the voters.

Yes, and it already happened. Not by the tax payers, but the state legislator approved to build the now operating Hollywood Mahoning Valley for Penn National.

The only casinos that are allowed in Ohio are the 4 that are specifically listed in the state constitution. The only way to add any additional casinos would be to once again amend the Ohio constitution, which would require voter approval. As ridiculous as that sounds, it is indeed what the voters of Ohio approved.

The Mahoning Valley project is one of the race tracks in the state where certain types of gambling are allowed, it is not a new casino. Rather it was an existing racetrack near Columbus that Penn gaming moved to the new location near Youngstown, the same as Toledo Raceway Park being re-located to the Dayton area. In reality they were simply allowed to move existing gambling facilities from one area to another as they did not want the casinos to be in the same markets as their racetrack facilities.

A winter draw to justify year-round operations at the newly-insulated Hotel Breakers?

Easy. Ice down the soak city slides and break out the saucer sleds!

Atlantic City is a prime example of what happens when you flood the market. The casino is Toledo is doing well and has no close competition other than the Detroit casinos. Even those are far enough that they do not compete to much.

I see a potential tri-state issue. Hollywood in Youngstown took away from Mountaineer, and now there a proposed casino and track to be built along Rt 422 just across the stateline in PA.

Looks like the headboards on the beds will have pics of different rides. Just saw a pic that CP posted on FB with a pic of Gemini on one headboard. Very cool!

Also, this is quite interesting! If you go to the Breakers page and go through the photos at the very top, the very last photo shows the front of the rotunda will be much different than previously seen. It's not just grass, it looks like fire pits will be put out there? Nice!

If there will be a Casino being built there; they most have to build a Parking Garage. There will be more gamblers from all around. I would like a Casino there. I am an hour from both Cleveland and Toledo. The best in Ohio's Casinos I like it is NO SMOKING. Some of my family members love to gamble, but they are not Cedar Point Fans. Whatever happens it is Cedar Point's choice.
