DOUBLE CHARGED 9/16/2017

Checked my checking account today and my account was double charged the same amount 2x times then had another charge that wasnt even ours. We called Cedar Point and someone there said they had a problem with their system and someone would call us back. Well no one called surprise, surprise. Called back and the cash control guys said we dont know whats happening but they had a high volume of calls for extra chargesand double charges . If you were there this weekend check your checking accounts and credit cards for extra charges. If we get no response by tomorrow were calling 13abc call for action in Toledo, Ohio

Wow if nothing happens you really should take legal action.

RMC streak or bust!

I was double charged in the employee cafeteria.

As long as they seem aware of the problem, which it seems like they do, I'd give them more than 3 days with one being a Sunday to sort things out before I'd call the tv station. In fact, that's probably what the tv station will tell you.
A high volume of calls tells me you're somewhere in the heap and my guess is not at the top. What were these charges? The amount is none of my business, but will you miss a mortgage payment on account of it?
Refunds take time, often more than we'd like, but that's a hard fact.

It happened on Friday, and it's only Monday. It's likely that relevant senior staff at the park and / or the company that processes payments weren't on the job over the weekend and the folks that were at work were overwhelmed.

I understand the frustration. For example, several years ago my work direct deposit was for only a third the amount it should have been; I had bills to pay and rent was coming due. But I spent hours on the phone, was polite and patient and they ultimately wired the balance to my bank the same day.

Give them a day or two more, then start working your way up the corporate chain of command with polite, succinct emails. (Accusatory, demanding emails are a good way to have little attention paid to your concerns.)

I've done this many times with good results.

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

If they've gotten a high volume of calls you can bet they're trying to sort things out with the card processing company. This has happened to us before. It's usually a hangup in the connection that triggers information to be sent twice.

Most likely the card processor made a change to their systems that they won't admit to, for which they are telling their customers to blame their ISP's and/or telephone carriers

It happens with surprising regularity these days, and I can tell you with some certainty that the ISP or phone carrier had nothing to do with it.

Hello All,

I do have some info on this.

We were notified that some guests may have experienced duplicate credit card charges while visiting the park on Saturday. This was caused by an error at our payment processor. The processor has confirmed that it is reversing all duplicate charges as soon as possible.

Thanks for the info Tony.

Interesting. I was double charged for seeing IT this weekend. The charge was reversed and will eventually fall off. I wonder if they use the same processing company..

I work at a tourist destination in the Cleveland area and we had a similar situation occur.

There were two days in July (busiest Saturdays of the year) in which the charges went through normally. But, the authorization company did not clear out the data for those days on their end. On one particular day in August all of the charges for those two days were pushed through again. This issue did not happen onsite. It was all done at the authorization company. But, the amount of phone calls that I received was insane.

The authorization company did not want to take responsibility. Our home office told them otherwise. They reversed the second charges. It got more complicated after that...but, I'll just stop there.

Anyway, it's a difficult issue to handle. It's hard to console someone that has had there account manipulated.

Yeah this isn't even a Cedar Point problem, just to provide a further example. Mine def. isn't a negative but is still something of concern. My direct deposit was double posted this morning and two transactions pulled twice that were posted after hours. I'm not in a rut regarding the account considering it's pay day and I watch my balance like a hawk, but to someone else they may not notice or say anything. This is def. not a Cedar Point issue, it's a payment processor issue. It sucks, but this kind of stuff happens, systems break and systems run into issues. We can only try to make them better after each issue.

I could see being upset, I know I would, but I would also be as nice as possible. For us a double charge could mean the difference between paying rent or a bill. But we do the season passes and the only thing we are thinking of purchasing at the park are fright lane passes on the last Sunday. We were at KI haunt on Fri and I use a ride pass due to hip problems, we got into one of the skeleton key rooms and having experienced that we want to do then at CP. No matter what if there's a huge issue like this sounds it was, you do have to be patient or try to be extremely nice about the situation.

I never get double charged when I pay with cash.
