Employee Perks for Challenge Park?

Do we get to ride skyscraper/ripcord/go karts, ect. for free as well being an employee, or do we get discounts like the platinum pass members or anything? Cause I'd love to ride skyscraper over & over for free, it'd be pretty awesome haha

I worked the Go-kart tracks in Challenge Park in 2002, and there were no perks for employees. However, if you were lucky, you got to be a test dummy on Rip-Cord.

Have a great Summer!

As an employee, you still have to pay full price to ride all attractions in Challenge Park. As of last year, they gave all international employees a little card with free passes for all the rides though (1 RipCord, 2 Skyscraper, 4 for each Racepark track). But they do give out RipCord passes to some employees who receive compliments.

Grr...So even the platinum pass holders get better deals than us xD...Ah well it's 10 bucks for skyscraper & I think 35 for ripcord...Not terrible...plus there's never truly a wait

Yeah, just hope for compliments for a free pass haha. Or have connections :P

They also give passes out on employee game nights and there are usually two or three blood drives throughout the summer that they give them out

Considering we get in FREE to any Cedar Fair park on our off days. Including getting in extra early to be first in line to any ride at Cedar Point if you want to, I think we have it pretty well.

yeah but try getting to another cedar fair park in your day off from cedar point. a good chunk of that day off would be spent driving there and back. don't get me wrong, do able and worth it. its just not the easiest thing to do haha.

most people plan for trips with their friends and request days off weeks in advance to enjoy 2 full days of other parks!

All Smiles has it right. Most of the time we plan weeks if not months in advance and take multiple days off if we know we're going to be going a ways. Not to mention Kings Island is only four hours away and can easily be done for a day trip. In fact a group of my friends and I are going down there the weekend before training week.

^But that amount of employees that actually do that are a very small portion. I doubt any first year employees even think about it outside of King's Island.

Surprisingly I found that a lot of first year Park Op employees were the most likely to take advantage of this deal. Especially if they had never been to another park other than Cedar Point. However a lot of them don't think ahead and plan these things out like the 2nd or 3rd year employees, so you may be right.

I'm a first year, and one of my roommates is a 2nd year, and we've been planning ever since I got hired. We haven't decided when we're going to do it yet or not. So yes, I'm pretty sure a few first years do think about going to other parks other than KI.

Awesome! That's what I like to hear.

You're blessed to be rooming with a 2nd year person in order to figure out what needs to be done when in order to get your days off and plan accordingly.

Again, I'm going to say that anyone in Ride Ops always seem to plan better and be more likely to make those trips. Just from my experience.

Well, everyone does have valid points...sadly I already forsee myself spending alot of money on skyscraper/ripcord/ect. :P

Also as for getting to the lines first? How is that possible? Are we allowed to get into the park before even platinum pass holders?

Lastly...I'm going to Kings Island on opening day. Is anyone else going? I wish the park was open the next day though...Online it's buy one get one free admission...that would have been amazing to go two days for one day's worth admission :D

As far as entering the park is concerned, if you are an employee you can get in whenever you want. So if you really want to make sure you get the first ride on some ride one morning, just show up to the park around 8:30 and take a nice little walk to whatever ride you want and wait for the ride to open.

It's actually kind of nice to be able to get in there and just relax and not worry about running to a ride with the platinum pass holders.

Pestering the Ripcord crew for free flights will not bring you any favors or make you any friends either. ;)

I do believe anybody (not just internationals) can forgo your 4 free CP park tickets and instead get the previously mentioned Challenge Park package if that's something you prefer. Also, at least as of a few years ago, there were employee "ride" nights for go karts and Challenge Golf a couple times during the season.

there is no ride night for go carts. thank god, that would be hell for us.

They had at least two of them in 2008. Must be something they've done away with since then.

Does anyone know if the go-kart tracks have been repaved since 2002? I really thought they needed it that year!
