Fast Lane is coming to the park

I do not know if it has been said anywhere else, but for those of us who were at the PointBuzz holiday event, we were all told that Fast Lane is in fact coming to Cedar Point. I think the price he said was going to be $50 on top of your admission ticket? I believe that is right, correct me if I am wrong.

I do have a question about it. He said something about it being good for 25 rides. Does this mean that it is only available for 25 rides at the park? Or does this mean that you are only able to use the fast lane to ride 25 rides before it expires.

King's Island actually started doing the "Fast Lane" program in July (I believe). From what I understand, they allow you to use the pass on the top 10 attractions, an unlimited number of times (although, I could be wrong). The last time I was at KI, the park was completely dead, so I didn't get to actually see it at work.

On the bright side, this would mean the return of entrance for these rides!

Does the Fastlane at Kings Island meet up with the standby queue? The old free-way system at Cedar Point connected to the standby queue.

I am not looking forward to Fastlane. Cedar Fair was the only large amusement company to refrain from fast-pass system. Every time a park introduces a fast pass system, it is always done very poorly (for the exception of Universal and Disney).

Should be interesting. I was hoping for a virtual queue system over a fast lane system, but hopefully it will be done "right". IMO there are only three coasters it's really needed for, why not just sell cards for fast lane access for MF, TTD, and Mav that get punched as one enters the fast lanes? Once its been punched for each of the three it's no good. If not that, hopefully something along that line. Some of the stories about Diamondbacks fast lane were off putting, I dont want 2012 to suffer while they "work out the kinks".

Two fast lane cards/bands good for any day would be a nice platinum pass perk ;)

It's Cedar Fair, I guarantee it won't be done well. They only seem to half think things through anymore. I know, I hate I feel this way, too.

Cedar Fair has been rebooted.

Am I the only that doesn't wanna any kind of fast pass and doesn't think the park needs it? IMO, a fast pass system is good at a park such as Disney because there are many attractions to fit into a day that could be worth riding more than once. Also there is always a good 30 minute wait for everything. At Cedar Point, I don't think they need it. It would only be useful on a handful of days in the season and there's not enough rides. You could easily be done with the park by 2:00 on some days with using a fast pass. Standing in lines help take up time and there's not enough to take up a full day.

Fast Lane isn't so much about what the park "needs" as it is about providing guests with something that they want: a day at Cedar Point where they don't have to worry about long waits, a day where they can have some degree of control over the one of more undesirable parts of a park day. If enough guests find value in the extra expense, and I have a feeling a fair number will, it makes quite a bit of sense for the park to offer the option.

I dont think the park needs it at all because the lines just dont justify it except for a few select weekends where they get ridiculous. That being stated, I think I can live live the $50 pice tag because at that price I think it will limit the amount of people using it. However, if it were ever go below that rate even to $40 I think it will become a detriment to my experience at the park and I would assume many others who dont use the system. Even the Disney and especially the Universal systems are maddening at times and I dont see CP doing it much better.

The fact that most parks do implement these kinds of things very poorly is the only part that worries me. If it's implemented right, it won't be a big deal for people who choose not to use it.

Any word on what the cost will be for a season pass or platinum pass holder

They haven't released any details yet. I don't think there should be a Pass discount though. Plus, I hope they put a cap on how many people can purchace it in a day. They limited the VIP Tour sales. The Fast Lane shouldn't be any different.

I would definitely pay the extra money for it. More rides and less wait times sounds good to me.

I saw something the other day about Worlds of Fun getting fast lane. So now Cedar point, kings island, knotts and worlds of fun has it. Who else is getting it?

Thank God for entrance coming back too! Now Twister won't be bombarded with LGs holding up the train. No offense to anybody, just saying.

I dont think it neccesarily means entrance. Ive seen it done where people simply walk up the exit gate and form a special line there. It then becomes the ride hosts job to check and all people in which delays the overall board/dispatch time for the ride. Has entrance been officially announced or are we just assuming?

I have not heard anything about an entrance yet. So it is probably going to be like how they do it for the people with the VIP passes, just walking up the exit.

Which is the absolute worst way to implement these kinds of systems. It works out much better if you can integrate the fast lane line and standby line before they reach the station.

I don't think anybody will be coming up the exit except for VIP and Special Access/Parent Swap. Bill Spehn and a couple other gold tags were going around to the bigger rides one day in the summer and were asking questions about our queues and how long of a wait it would be from this point to that point. That would be a mess if they just let them up through the exit. I'm probably about 90% positive entrance will be returning.

wait... you say entrance will be returning? When was there previously an entrance for a fast lane?
