First X-Flight and now Steel Venom?

Did anyone attend EastCoaster yesterday...? <rolls eyes>

I was at Eastcoaster and Mr. Hildebrandt (spelling?) said that Steel Venom and X-Flight are both being relocated to other Cedar Fair parks.

Anything about Headspin?

Are they just moving it to somewhere else in the park or to another park? I'm sure it won't get much use out there by itself. Heck, it barely got used with SV on the other side of it.

head spin was pictured in the same place as it was

I realize it's pictured in the same place but I was curious if Mr Hildebrandt was asked anything about that area of the park in general. Since they're obviously clearing it out for a reason.

I would guess there's a specific reason they're clearing that side of the park out for more reasons than lack of ridership of those rides.

I still say they're going to sell off that parking lot for development and move the main entrance over to the water park. They'll most likely keep a small lot on that side and make that an entrance sort of like the Magnum entrance is at CP.

Maybe the location has nothing to do with it and the rides are being relocated because Steel Venom is similar to WT and X-Flight is too costly for GL to maintain

Ya, and maybe they'll turn that area into an Arena Football field and get a team to come there.

Steel Venom is gracing the front page of Crain's Cleveland Business:

That is a member-only link.

They were running a little short on time at Eastcoaster and we didn't get a Q&A session with any of the Cedar Fair people. There wasn't much Q&A at all that day. I think Dollywood got to awnser the most questions.

It should redirect you after a few seconds. If not, go to Crains Cleveland and on the main page, there's a rotation of three articles. The Geauga Lake article is the first one, click "Read More." I found that you get redirected to the login if you click the image, but if you click "read more" you'll be redirected to the free version of the article.

Well I can read the brief paragraph they have on the homepage but I click on it and still get this message:

That's very strange, because I'm not registered and getting it just fine...

Yeah I can't get to it either.

For those of you whole are unable to get the article, here are the highlights:

-Jack Falfas confirms that Steel Venom and X-Flight are headed to other Cedar Fair Parks; X-Flight to Kings Island and Steel Venom is "destined for storage at another park."
-Mr. Falfas tells how they realize removing so many rides in the area has left a less-than inviting entrance for the park, but that their intent is to cleanup the area.
-Mr. Falfas points out that it is clear to the company now that Geauga Lake is a local park, not the "Cedar Point East" the company thought it'd be when they purchased the park.
-2007 improvements are set to include additional cabanas near the wavepool, new food and games, including improving one of the park's main eateries, and a new magic show in the Palace Theatre. Two thrill rides will get a new paint job, one will have cameras installed in every seat so guests can purchase a video of their memory, and a "movie/simulator ride" is going to be re-themed.
-Mr. Falfas concludes by noting they have invested a lot of money into sprucing up the park. He also says that there are new attractions planned for the park, but declined comment.
-Stacy Frole notes that the company beleives that the park has grown, noting the park had fewer operating days last season and brought in the same number of guests.

Anyone know what two rides are getting new paint and which is getting the cameras?

If it means anything, it seems like people who are using Internet Explorer are being prompted for the registration, but those using Firefox are not.

Anyways, I would venture to guess that Dominator and Headspin might be getting the paint jobs. They seem to be the most in need of it.

I use Firefox - still being prompted.

I use FF ad had to register to view the article. I wonder if you registered at some point Doug, and it just kept your login in the cache.

I know I'm not registered. But, like I said, I'm prompted for login in IE but not Firefox, even after clearing cache, cookies and everything else. Oh well, I covered the key points in that other post. :)
