going solo?

Hey guys and gals. Its been several years since I've been to the point. I got started late and didn't start going until I met someone that went every year and went 6-7 years in a row, but haven't been in a relationship lately so nobody to go with. The past few years I told myself I would go by myself once just to see if its any fun, but keep chickening out. It is a bit of a drive and not cheap and I hate waiting in lines for an hour. But I've always went in the morning. Don't know if afternoons would be better and any specific day? I've got the rest of the week off, but would guess this would be a busy week unless it rains or something. btw, anybody want to meet up there sometime?

I go by myself several times a year. My husband can't do the rides anymore and my friends that like to go can't go as often as I like to.

When I go by myself it is usually on lower crowd days (May, early June, late August and Halloweekend Friday's)

I usually get there a little later in the afternoon (between 1-3) and stay until park closing.

As much as I wish my friends could go more often or my Husband could still ride, I also enjoy going by myself. I get to decide what I want to do and when I do it. If I want to stay and marathon a ride, I can.

I can't speak for this time of year. I usually don't do July unless I have a friend who can only go in July.

The first time going alone was intimidating, but I got over it quick. I also have a bit of a drive (approximately 2 hours), the hardest part is the drive home, but music helps and I call and talk to my Husband.

Go and have fun!

I've been going solo fairly often the past couple years. My daughter wasn't big enough to ride the bigger coasters and my bride can't.

I've enjoyed wandering the park on my own - and exploring areas that are of little interest when up there with kids - like walking out to Lighthouse point just for the heck of it or spending as much time in the museum as *I* want to.

I'd say you ought to go. You get to do what you want when you want.

In fact it is looking like I'll be up there solo tomorrow for Gatekeeper ERT. I guess I'll be a single rider Bob, but not The Single Rider Bob.

from the mid 90s' to 2002 was always solo,2003 to 2012 was maybe 50% of the times solo. I missed being able to do/go what I wanted/preferred because compromises were required. I'm back to solo since 2013(I still have the option of not solo)and back to the way I like it. there's no compromise as far as what next or where/when to eat. I'm not unsocialable but I really enjoy it more doing my own agenda.

Sounds like I should try it. I have one other concern. I recently got a new car and I was asking some guys on one of the car forums about going to CP or Kings Island. One of them said he would never go to KI again because people may mess with your car in the parking lot. Is this the same at CP and is there any way or place to park to be safe?

I or any of my friends never had a problem at Cedar Point or Kings Island. The only problem has been parking near a light pole and get seagull droppings. Cedar Point police occasionally drive down all the rows looking for ?.
A 'rowdier' crowd does attend during the Halloween event weeks at both CP and KI and daylight hours are less then too. KI even passes all entrants thru scanners.
The summer months is a crowd of mainly families and busses.
Preferred parking is available at an extra charge.

AND single riders have the ability to get on TTD,MF,Mav,GtKpr,Mgnm sooner by looking in the station que lines and find another single rider waiting.

Other than the damn seagulls I have never had a problem parking at Cedar Point.

Station que lines? Never noticed those before. I just checked on parking, $15 for general, ouch. Any truth to the rumor you can request to park near the marina to eat at famous Dave's and they will deduct your parking charge receipt from your bill? I also wonder if it would be worth it to go after 4p to save a little and since I never stayed there after 6p or so? But that would only give me about 6 hours. It would be longer on weekends, but I work about every weekend.

I honestly prefer to go solo but end up running into people I know anyway usually. Being 1000+ miles away, I don't get to ride Magnum and Maverick very often anymore and like to concentrate my time riding those. If someone goes with me they typically want to ride other rides.

Looks like I will be a solo rider tomorrow (7/2). Kids bailed on me...pfshhht..teenagers. Got a few morning things to take care of, then riding the coasters.

I tell ya, kids these days.

I was thinking of going tomorrow, but see that it is only supposed to be about 70 and partly cloudy. Almost a little chilly with the breeze off the lake. But then again probably better than too hot. I could always wear jeans and take a light jacket. I'm a little worried about getting sunburn too as I haven't been outside much this year.

I don't think I've ever in my life heard anyone argue with himself more.

haha, maybe I over think things a bit sometimes...

Take sunscreen with you. Use it even if it is cloudy.

Careful of the clowns, they will get you too.

So, how was your solo visit ?

well, I didn't go yet. I was thinking about it on the 4th, but thought it would be packed and I hate waiting in line for hours. Now I keep thinking I wasted my vacation day and the holiday as I rarely get them off. Oh well, I do get 3 days off every week so could go pretty much any day during the week before it gets too hot.

btw Dennis, that's crazy the number of times you go each year. It would be awesome if I lived closer to the park and made better money, but as it is going even once a year is pretty much a treat for me.

that's not a crazy amount of times, lot of the 'park regulars' go every month the times I go in a year. My round trip is 150 miles.
Back in the 90s',I would get there about 8:45am,EVERYONE would get in at 9am (there was no special early entry)and the major rides were up and running at 9. I would do 6 rides on Raptor (no wait, pick your seat), then 6 on Mantis, then 6 on Mean Sreak, and 6 on Magnum. Sometimes more than 6 if nobody was on the platforms. I'd be leaving the park, done riding, when the crowd was coming in.The past 5-10 years I've been arriving at the park early evening when most of the people were leaving and stay till closing to get my riding in.

Still haven't went - I was sick the past couple weeks. Now I'm wondering if I should go while its warm out or wait until hallow weekends start since I've never gone to one of those? Only bad thing is I would have to request a day off work in advance as I work every weekend and probably won't get one off until October.
