High Winds

Does anyone have an idea what wind speeds or approximate start shutting down rides? I just would like to know what speed to beware of.

Thanks!

Usually around 20+MPH for some of the coasters. Ones that are most affected are Dragster, Gatekeeper and Raptor. Everything else should be fine. Windseeker and Sky Ride will shut down around those speeds as well.

Consider the direction as well; Magnum especially doesn't like a NE wind. Sustained winds >30mph or gusts >35mph tend to shut down most large rides. Less than that, it will depend largely on the direction and on the individual ride. Echoing Thabto, >=20mph is when I start to consider rescheduling my visit.

I like to keep an eye on the NWS point forecast, the Cleveland NWS forecast discussion (particularly the marine section), and the aviation forecast at 3000'. Winds at 200' or 300' are often stronger than at the surface.

Malem and Thabto thanks for the input. I used to go all the time in the 90s and not once was a coaster closed due to the wind. Seems like CP sure has changed a lot the past few years.
