Hotel Breakers Expansion Construction

Does anyone know if the new wing will have it's own lobby? Been watching it rise the last month or so on the webcam, and it does not look like it is going to touch the existing structure. There is a good gap in between.

They will probably build a connector later in the construction schedule. I wonder if the new section will have some additional amenities though, like a poolside bar & grill?

I agree Pete. Would love to see a new bar a grill by the pool, with the view of Cedar Point Shores and the lake.

Better yet, they should just dump TGI Fridays and put something better in that space.

When will this project be done?

Dumping TGIFridays and putting something "better" in that space, will not change the inherent problems that are common there. The problem is CP food services, not the chain.

However, if you have some dislike for TGIFridays as a restaurant chain you also probably wouldn't like any other chain style restaurant that would go in there. Fridays, as far as chains go, is run better than most chains are but they mostly all utilize the same back of the house procedures.

The bar at Fridays is run very well. And even in that specific location, it is a very fun spot with usually above average bartenders that make it worth the time and money.

Between Breakers Tower and the new addition will be an adult only swimming pool with a poolside bar called "Pete's." They know a good customer when they see one!

The Breakers expansion will be completed for the 2018 season. Should be fun to watch it take shape over the summer.

Fridays is a solid money maker. Ergo, I would not expect any disturbances in the force there. More interesting to ponder: Will the new wing have a up-scale restaurant along the vibe of Bay Harbor?

I thought the park missed a great opportunity for a rooftop bar when they built the original tower. I would love to see them add one to this new addition for evening drinks while the sun sets over the park.

The new tower it's self will not feature a bar or restaurant. I say this based on how the walls for the first floor were placed via views from the web cam. They were placed very standard for hotel rooms according to fire code, with a fire proof wall every two rooms.

There is that open area though that I am assuming will connect to the rest of the hotel. Some amenity to go with the new pool complex can be built there as part of the connector.

That's possible Pete. I think it could be a proper ice cream shop. I forget but at Fridays does the wait staff use the main bar as their service bar all the time or does fridays have a service bar in the back of the house?

I'm almost positive that the main bar is used for all drinks.

Jason McClure tweeted some pictures of the beach, and it looks like they've redone the walkway. The walkway used to abut the Fridays patio. It looks as though they've moved the walkway toward the water slightly.

Not sure what I think about all those trees missing next to CP Shores. It was very peaceful walking along the beach with some trees cover there. I don't understand what it will add to CPS. You'll have a standard fence and sidewalk between you and the beach from the water park anyway. I hope they at least switch out those huge parking lot style lights on the path there.

The CP rep at No Coaster a few years ago mentioned that a surprising number of guests surveyed didn't know Cedar Point had a beach. It's a great asset that the park is playing up; opening up sightlines from Cedar Point Shores is one way to do that.

You are correct as the boardwalk use to be right against the fence that surrounded the patio at Fridays. Pushing it away from Breakers is probably for the new section to fit nicely in its spot and to also line you up with the walkway that goes around Soak City (I'm not calling it CPS just yet). In the past I am sure most didn't know it was there because it was hidden pretty well with the large rocks and was easy to walk right past. Plus in that 2nd picture you can see what will probably become a sitting/viewing area. That location is where I thought a beach bar would be nice to have.

One of the reasons I liked Mainstream over Renegade River was the shade you floated in and out of under those trees. I am indifferent on their removal but as has been done in the past with the larger trees, it could have been because of disease. Removing those trees really wouldn't open up the view of the beach much since they were so tall. Taking down that ugly slatted chainlink fence and the large bushes would have done that alone. However removing the trees does give you a good view of those slides from the boardwalk/hotel area which could help guests realize the water park is right next door. Either way I am excited to see how that whole area turns out as its always been favorite of mine.
