Lap Restraints

Take another look at the renderings of the trains on the official site, (for those of you who STILL haven't found them, click the "All The Facts" link)... looks like a pull down T-bar restraint, with a semi-clamshell at the end, can't get a really good shot of it, but if that's the case, should prove to be just an addition to that 'completely out in the open' feeling.

Jeff, does that sound about right as far as the lapbar goes?

Go to the news section and select news from the last 6 months. Scroll down and look for the on-ride photo of me on Superman: Ride of Steel... those are your lap bars.

Jeff you were on S:ROS. Those lap bars look very uncomfortable (at lease for a guy). I said that I wished that there were more bunny hops on MF in the "predictions" thread, now I'm thinking twice after seeing that pic. Would you recommend wearing a jock strap with these restraints? By the way who are those people two rows behind you giving the camera the one finger salute?

First, your "unit" doesn't even get close to the lap bar (unless you're Ron Jeremy aroused). Second, those things are made with more foam than, well, I can't think of anything clever, but they're very soft!

You get popped HARD on that ride, but it's not painful at all. Think Magnum with all of the motion, but none of the bruises on your thighs.

...Furthermore, the lap bars on Superman:ROS are infinitely adjustable (NO notches!) and either positively lock into place, or are stiff enough that they do not move during the ride. My own complaint about the lap bars on S:ROS is that the upright portion (which attaches the bar to the floor) could stand to be a couple of inches longer, as I had trouble getting the bar over my knees, but apart from that, it's a pretty good design. --Dave Althoff, Jr.
Those side bars look like the don't have any padding?
