New Water slide names at Cedar Point Shores (Soak City)

I noticed they took my advice and changed the names of the slides that were named "body slides" and "tube slides" to actual names like "Crosscurrent" and "Fishermans Fury" I also noticed that they renamed dragster h2o which surprises me because they had a contest for the name.

What are all your thoughts on the new names?

Here is the list of the new names:

I'm not too surprised. They are rebranding the entire waterpark, so name changes were expected.

I'm not surprised either, but some of the names don't seem better. Dragster H20 is a more unique name than Riptide Raceway. Eerie Falls will be renamed Lake Eerie Nor'easter which seems more meh as well.

In the end, names really don't matter that much for a water park I suppose. They really don't have a marquee attraction at Cedar Point Shores which would really need more name recognition.

Oh, and Bubbles got renamed to Muffleheads Beach Bar. I'm not sure if that is funny or awful. Or both.

I'd say it's a pretty accurate description, as long as you're going from mid-June to mid-July.

I like the name Muffleheads but I hope they renovate the bar and make it look less '80s. I noticed they are calling the ice cream place "Beaches and Cream", a look back to Hotel Breakers of the past.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Unique doesn't necessarily mean good.

The only thing I don't like with names is using the same letter for each word (Lakeside Landing, Point Plummet, etc.)

I know why they do it, but it does for some reason always seem childish. However, I know it's meant for kids & stuff too, but..something I always just look at and it feels bland to me lol

Whaaaa? Alliteration isn't "for kids & stuff". It's a literary device that grabs attention and commands focus.

It's used in more kid things than anything.

Strawberry Shortcake

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium

Big Bird

I could go on. I get why it's done, just...I notice it very quickly, and some reason I just don't like it haha.

It's like Jack Black. I don't know what it is, he's a cool guy, and hella talented. But I hate his face. Legit.

Point Plummet's abbreviation is PP - that's the last thing you want in your waterpark. :)

I always found the "Dragster H2O" name rather tacky; I'm glad to see it go. (I'm even more glad "Choo Choo Lagoon" seems to be dead.)

All of these new names sound good to me! It's nice to see the park finally unified under a single theme that actually has something to do with water/beaches.

Thrills Around the Corner!

I'm most glad about chop chop lagoon being gone so I won't have to have sand on my feet anymore...

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

I want to get this rant off my back, so here goes.

The waterpark, as stated before, really needs a star waterslide attraction. They've added point plunge and those 2 tube slides, but once again, it's just the same old simple body slide formula that looks like all the other slides in the park, they all look the same.

Yes, point plunge is sort of innovative with the floor drop and all, but I looked up many other water parks and I have been to some of these and rode their slides: for example:

Anaconda falls at Zoombezi bay in Columbus is amazing.

Swahili swirl and Tanzanian twister at Kalahari are some of the most thrilling slides I've been on.

Massiv at Schlitterbahn in texas (have not been, but looks fun)

Liquid lightning at wildwater kingdom (since they closed the park, CP may get it in the future)

CP shores needs one of these other than continuing to add simple body slides all the time. Does anyone know why they keep sticking to the same things?

Because it works.

It is true that Soak City / CP Shores was (and still kinda is) a subpar waterpark. For a separate-admission park next door to a world-class "megapark", it kinda sucks. I think a water coaster would fit nicely. CP's INDOOR waterpark has a water coaster! (albeit a small one.) Perhaps, if they can find room for one, they could go for length and put in something like Mammoth.

There's a thought. With WWK gone, how likely is it that Cedar Fair will sell off most of it but keep the best stuff for Shores (space permitting)?

Virtually none.

I think the chances are better then you think, Cedar Fair was already planning what they would remove from WWK and where it would be relocated to. With the exception of the slides currently at the park being an unknown, the following is in the process of or has already been completed.

Lounge chairs split between CP shores and Kings Island
Remaining Merchendise to Dorney with the exception of anything with the city name on it.
Viable culinary equipment including coolers to Cedar Point
Cabanas to Dorney
Former bar building to Dorney
Benches to Cedar Point/ Dorney

As CF did when they closed the amusement park they will continue to relocate items that can be used elsewhere.

Thunder falls slides are still a nice attraction but I think they would be relocated outside of Ohio.
Their funnel slide could easily go to CPS as part of a phase 2 at some point.
The only remaining item is their water "treehouse" area which is nearly exactly what Splah20 is already so not really a play for CPS

I am having a difficult time imagining where a phase 2 expansion could go with the addition of the new hotel wing. It seems like something would have to be removed like Magnum, cabins or eat into the parking lot which they are currently expanding.
