Other New Additions for 2018

I think the last thing Cedar Point needs is another midway as wide as a football field. But I like parks with narrower paths, they seem to work just as well and are certainly more interesting.

So, is there any speculation as to whether Steel Vengeance will be "Early Entry" next year? If so, I wonder if Maverick will remain ER. Either way, I can imagine the "stampede" of crazed patrons at 9:00am.

One of those Service Ponies could come in really handy for this.

^^ I agree with that completely. I love what they did with Valravn in keeping it a big enough space for a lot of people to walk through, but narrow enough that it's not a wasteland of cement.

If the Dinos were contractually set to expire after so many years it makes sense.

That was SO 65 million years ago.

In terms of Dino's Alive, I thought Cedar Point had a 7 year contract with the company who installed them at each park...

Perhaps the new passes for 5 and under is an indication that we may be getting some family friendly flats or a flume over in frontier town this year as well.

Are you serious? I'd say it's every indication that nothing whatsoever is coming for the kids.

I have to agree with RCMAC on this. I feel like they're just trying to fill up those new "Bon Aire" hotel rooms lol

This could be something, or nothing at all. But if you look at the interactive display set up for SV, look at the headlines below, one references Frontier Fling, another references "Rapids, and another references Lusty Lils. I am willing to bet that there is nearly a 99% chance FrontierTown is getting a facelift, and I'm not convinced that SV is the only attraction being installed back there. At the very least, a better use of that horrible outdated arcade and I think you'll see other surprises that will be revealed by the story of the three outlaws. I don't think it'll be anything big, and maybe they decide to do nothing at all (unlikely) but I think SV is one part of the puzzle.

I've not seen this interactive display yet. Headlines.... what is it?
Frontier Fling and Rapids, whether it be the raft ride or Shoot the, are all (were) on the trail. We saw the saloon show last week and that building and concept are old. Like I've said before, an expanded stage show with a bigger capacity house might be in order.

But I guess the question remains, if hope springs eternal and there are more improvements to come, why didn't they just announce everything at once? Maybe plans aren't finalized, but somehow that seems unlikely, or maybe they didn't want to take any wind out of SV's party sails.

We'll see.

Didn't Jason or Tony in one of the interviews say that Frontier Town is getting some improvements? I'm certain I heard something like that.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Has anyone heard anything about this expansion lately? I feel like they mentioned it last year when they announced Shores, and other than a 3d model in the Shores preview video there hasn't been much said about it since

I'm sure it will be hyped up during the off season to boost reservations but I'm surprised that there hasn't been a blog post or two showing off construction, the way Tony did for the Express Hotel expansion & reno

I thought I saw a billboard-like sign for the Breakers expansion, located between Corkscrew and Magnum, along the area where you could look out and see the construction. For their target market, that sign may be more effective than blog posts.

I don't know about in interviews, but at the RWC holiday party last year Jason may have hinted at something when asked about Town Hall. If I recall, he said Town Hall, and how to enhance that area, were items written on his white board, and eluded to the 150th anniversary.

I like Town Hall for a number of reasons. On a hot day it is a great place to cool down as the A\C is usually cranking. It is a good place to relax for a few minutes before the trek to the front of the park. It has many neat historical photos of the peninsula & park. It provides shelter during rain storms. It is an ideal place to overhear tidbits from people for potential use in the "crazy things you hear in line" thread. Most of all, the staff & Mr. Ken in particular are very friendly & helpful.

Like anything, it can probably use some maintenance or improvements, perhaps some displays where you push a button & get a spiel or something. It can also use some pest control. Since opening day this year I have noticed an accumulation of mouse turds in the display case back by the carousel horses that has the tea cups, shot glasses etc..., in fact a couple of the items are knocked over probably by pixie & dixie. I hate those meeces to pieces!

^ Also the benches on the porch are one of the few consistently shady places to chill with a backrest.

Why is it that if you can't ride it, so many posters on here think CP doesn't need it? There is more to an amusement park than mega-thrill rides. CP needs to attract families. The money is in families not thrill-seeking teens and twenty-somethings. Families, especially with younger children, like to do things together. CP needs more of those attractions and rides. While senior citizens are become more active, ride wise, they also enjoy the quieter things. There is a growing number of seniors walking the midways. Cedar Point is for everyone not just the thrill-seekers.

If you are referring to Dinos in my view it is really a one and done kind of attraction. Admit I am not in the best shape but still CP is a lot of walking and I really don't have a desire to add to it. 7-8 miles in a day is enough in the heat and Dino's probably adds another one.

I actually have never bothered with the one at CP as once through last year at KI was enough for me. But yeah another relaxing, low intensity attractionn woukd be nice. I just don't want to walk. Lol.

No, I am not referring to Dinos. In fact I feel they should go! they have been there long enough and are taking up valuable space and hindering the return of Paddlewheel Excursions. Just don't touch the Town Hall or the Antique Cars. So there are two sets of them. Have you even been with a kid who is steering for the first time, or can finally reach the pedal? For the kid that is the joy and excitement that makes Cedar Point Cedar Point! And as his passenger, it was for me too!

I still don't understand the need for 2 of the same ride.

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

CP needs a true family coaster. There's a massive gap between under 48" (can't ride anything by yourself except Wilderness Run and only 2 other coasters with an adult, one of which isn't really a coaster) and over 48" (can ride half of the major thrill rides including Magnum, Millennium Force and soon, Steel Vengeance.)

CP made a massive mistake making Iron Dragon 48". When the VR is gone, I hope to see it at 46" again. Heck, it should be 42" like its much more intense sister at SFMM. "Consistency" with the KI and CW models is a moot point - those are much more intense (and quite frankly also should be 46" or 42" considering the similarly intense Ninja is 42".

CCMR should have a lower restriction too, but with its strange restraint system I understand why it's 48" (an out-of-control child could easily wriggle out of it if they removed their seatbelt, so Mine Ride should definitely be 48" to ride alone if they lower it.)

At Six Flags Great America, somebody 42" tall can ride Whizzer and Demon (a superior version of Corkscrew) by themselves, and formerly American Eagle (it is now 48" allegedly due to parents complaining about the 48" restriction on the smaller woodie, Viper.) and somebody 36" tall can ride Whizzer with an adult.
