Ripcord- Prices too high.......

I think you missed some of the explanations brought forth earlier, so let me break it down in easy terms.

1. Capacity is awful on Skycoasters, and the progressive pricing is there to encourage people to fly in groups.

2. NOBODY rode Skyscraper when the price was $20 per rider the first couple weeks it was open in 2008. NOOOOBODY. Ridership only increased when they made the BOGO deal for everyone, and not just Platinum Pass holders.

3. RipCord still gets pretty steady and healthy business, so there's no reason to lower the prices (same argument as Soak City's prices, if it ain't broke....).

4. RipCord is outside the park, while most other Skycoasters are inside the park, and that definitely makes a difference.

5. The 300-footer is the most expensive Skycoaster in the world.

6. Go to a Six Flags park and check out the prices for their 150 foot Skycoasters, and then look at the prices for their 100 foot Skycoasters.

I agree on most of what has been said.. but after working there for 2 years, and being near it for 2 more years afterwards, I can easily see RipCord is not getting it's full potential of ridership.

I don't expect it to have lines like it did when it opened, that'd be nonsense. But how often are both towers operating due to a lot of people? Rarely. Now this can be argued due to staffing, and staffing being stolen by Soak City, but that's just a stretch. Or maintance..since one side or the other is down a lot, but still.

On the other hand, you can't make the price go too low. Like Steve said, the main idea they market is the concept of flying in groups, and that certainly has worked out the best.

However, I still think $30 is a bit steep, when you calculate in the fact most of those people are already buying tickets to either CP or SK, food, maybe lodging, souveniors, etc.. I mean maybe some guy and his 2 friends went to RipCord, the one guy really wants to do it, but he can not get his 2 friends to ride with him, should he really have to pay 30 just for himself to go? Just sounds a little crazy.

I think around 23-25, is better. If you do 25, it's not much less than 30, but I think a lot of people would do RipCord. Logically, 25 just seems much cheaper than 30.

2 flyers, can remain at 44, and 3 flyers can remain at 45.

Just my take. I know it won't happen.

Personally, I'd prefer some kind of progressive system that moves throughout the day like they use at KI, but unlike KI, keep the tiered rates to encourage people to fly in groups. Short of implementing a system like that, I don't think I'd change anything.

^^I've been in the situation before that I wanted to ride but my friends didn't and I wasn't going to pay $30 to ride alone. I would agree that $20-$25 would be much more reasonable for a single flyer.
