Roller Coaster History Timeline Added to Construction Fence

As posted by GOCC on Facebook, Jesse Rose recently found a new addition to the fence around the former Good Time Theater site.

It tells the story of Cedar Point as The Roller Coaster Capital of the World before starting a timeline with Blue Streak and CCMR. One might conclude that the end game is to chronicle all coasters currently in the park and ultimately share what will end up on this site. It also makes it sound like a new type of coaster will be found there. I'm not saying it'll be a dive, but it does lead credence to that. It could just as well be an LSM-launched B&M flyer (please?).

Interesting. I wonder if they'll add one or two every week and then have the big reveal in August. A dive coaster would be a welcome addition but it sure would be nice to see them do something innovative as well.

Edit to add: After thinking about the message on the sign for a bit, my mind keeps leaning toward a new family coaster for 2016. Something in the 100' -150' range, possibly launched. Maybe the marina entrance is going to get the Gatekeeper / Fury 325 treatment since it is right in the middle of the sections of land that have been cleared. It would be fun to see a coaster go underground.

I can't make out what the sign says since it's too pixelated on my screen. Can anyone please share it?

Wow...they are actually putting signs on the fence about their roller coaster history...if that isnt a teaser then i don't know what is.

This is a horse that's been beaten to death, but I would still rather a modern wooden coaster on that side of the park by the water. Redo that part of the park in a traditional waterfront amusement park manner, somewhere between the original Luna Park, Euclid Beach, and even Lost Kennywood, and that would make so much more aesthetic sense than yet another B&M.

B&M's look asthetically better to me than most wooden coasters. I just love how picturesque B&Ms inversions are.

This is what I "think" it says. I haven't seen it in person but when I zoom in on the photo using my phone I can make out most of the words. If anyone has any corrections please feel free to chime in:

It's not just about the sheer number of thrills
And it's not always about the numbers
It's about the complementary nature, the diverse variety of
these machines of varying height and speed
Close to terra firma, soaring high enough to touch the clouds
Launched, winged, floorless, inverted, out and back
These creations take us to places we've never been
These monuments of modern engineering allow us to forget our
troubles and live in the now

These experiences are unmatched
And this history, this legacy, will continue here at
The Roller Coaster Capital of the World

Or it could just look a lot better than a plain wooden wall.

But it basically says, "we are the roller coaster capital of the world and we plan to keep it that way." Yes it does look better that a plain wood fence, but if it's not a direct teaser for next year, it deffinitely means that big things are coming.

If Jeff says it means nothing, then it means nothing.

No, it "basically" says Cedar Point is the Roller Coaster Capitol of the World. Sometimes a sign on a fence is just a sign on a fence.

It actually says "this legacy will continue" and I'm sure it will...but it doesn't have to mean next year. Also, a teaser doesn't have to be for something that is coming. It could be the park playing with enthusiasts who they know will make anything out of it, while providing something for the GP to look at other than a boring fence.

I've worked with many sign companies and their clients over the years. For a business, a sign on a fence is never just a sign on a fence.

Considering the content and placement I think it's fair to say that they are trying to convey a message. We can argue over the intent of the signs but I wouldn't brush them off as being nothing more than decoration. There are plenty of other ways to make a blank facade look more visually appealing.

It is indeed simply a sign on a fence, a sign on a fence that surrounds a large and recently vacated plot of land in an amusement park. An amusement park that doesn't have cleared land scattered all about the park. I am all for skepticism and not trying to find meaning where there is none... But in this case, it is those who say there's nothing to see here are the ones grasping at straws.

Does anyone here seriously believe that this fenced off land that has decorative signs on the fence will remain as is for years to come?

I said there was a green train and development of a boardwalk too, and look where that got us.

It says that a new roller coaster is coming next season.

I love the idea of them adding a new coaster poster or two every other week, until the big announcement...

Pretty sure no one here believes that.

It does? Where?

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

Sometimes a sign is just a sign.

Sometimes it means we're getting a nice new dive coaster next year.

And sometimes it just means that somewhere in the future we will build another coaster. The key word being future, meaning 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, etc., etc. and so forth.

And in this case a fence surrounding recently cleared land, with or without signs on the fence, means that something new is coming in the near future, not 5 or 10 years down the road, and most likely not even 3 years down the road.
