Was this intended to be announced today? I would've thought there would be teasers leading to the announcement. And there is no post on CP's Facebook about it. It makes me wonder if their Youtube page got hacked.

I can't speak to legitimacy, but it's definitely under marketing's control.

No, Tony tweeted the link with " *cough* "

Weather Freak
Ride Warrior

My twitter feed had CP tweet it a minute before Tony did. As an Ohio transplant to the front range of Colorado I'm not too keen on the Denver Broncos color scheme.

Hmm. It's just out of the ordinary for CP to announce something major like this without hyping it up. This a great announcement. I'd just like to take a moment to say "in your face!" to all those who said it couldn't be done. But, there could also be further announcements for 2015 in the future. A conversion seems like a fairly minor project.

Can anybody tell from the teaser video if the layout is changed at all?

There has GOT to be something more. There has to be. I just don't see why the ride needs to close before the end of the season just to add new paint and slide new trains on.

Unfortunately, the video doesn't appear to reflect any reprofiling of the track at all. Same layout.

I just don't understand.

They said it couldn't be done, the body cant take riding "lower" in the seats, costs too much. And when I mentioned the fact that Mantis was dying and its a horrible ride everybody became the expert they obviously aren't. Well, I am glad to see Mantis finally gone, and welcome Rougarou. Hey DJ - what you think now?

It's about damn time.....

Color scheme looks great. Certainly unique to the park.

I still can't believe people found this surprising. The original teaser video seemed pretty clear to me "getting squished", "take the last stand". That video seemed to lead to the obvious conclusion that it'd be converted to floorless. Plus the fact that CP wouldn't confirm that the ride was actually being removed or not.

Wait, the most obvious outcome was the actual outcome? Get right out of town! Let the bitching commence that the wild fantasies that were ridiculous in the first place didn't come true!

I knew it! Correct me if I'm wrong but when people say that guests cant sit because they are lower, dont floorless trains sit higher than regular sit down trains? I thought they had to sit higher for the feet to dangle

And also. The paint scheme is awesome but doesn't anyone else think that it might blend in with ID too much?

Are we sure this is a teaser video? I took this as the announcement video... haha

I'm honestly surprised the park is doing this. While floorless trains will likely make the ride much more comfortable (a welcome change for most people on here, I'm sure), I'd imagine the new trains are pretty expensive. Can the park really expect to recoup that investment? I don't see "new trains and paint" being that much of a draw to the GP.

A few questions: The video seems to show standard restraints on these new trains, but do we think the trains might end of having vests, instead? Are we sure these are new trains, or do we know of any used floorless trains the park might have been able to purchase? Do we think the park will buy three or two trains?

Regardless, I still say Mantis is the worst ride experience in the park right now, so I'm excited for any improvements to it. And how cool is it that an enthusiast pipe dream that has been discussed for years is actually coming true?!

Presumably, they want to get the thing painted (or get a head start on it at least) before the winter hits. Still odd though. It's not like Mantis' layout is spread out over a large area.

Swish, nailed it. Where's my cookie?

Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."

^Exactly my thoughts DJ. It isn't like the ride is restricted by different terrains (Millennium Force) or prohibited by high winds/cold temperatures (Top Thrill Dragster). The ride is mainly under 100 feet and the majority of the second half hugs the ground.

Very strange.
