Soak City Announcement on

Soak City doesn't have any big toilet-bowl style slides (or at least thats what I call them) do they? It would be kind of cool to see one of those as part of an expansion. Or even one of those "themed" slides, like they have at some water parks with lights and music that play through them. One of those would be fun, but I'm honestly open to anything they're adding on.

Arms Down, Head Back, and Hold On!...Arms Down!...Arms Down......

Let's say that there will be a Soak City expansion to where SkyScraper and Challenge Racing were. There's currently a walkway that runs between those sites and the existing boundary of SC and connects the rear parking lot to Cedar Point's resort entrance. Seeing as how Valravn accompanied a refurbishment of the marina entrance, does anyone else think we'll see the same thing happen here?

^I could actually seeing something like that happening. All 3 park gates would be refurbished if they did that.

The Soak City parking lot is currently abused by Non-Soak city customers using it as parking to use the resort gates, which is also abusing the Resort gates which is for Resort Guests.

If we see a redo of this entrance, I'd imagine a single Soak City entrance, with no easy access to Cedar Point from the parking lot. This of course would accompany a redesigned entrance for Resort Guests only.

This would alleviate the problem of Soak City lot overflowing into Lighthouse Point and Sandcastle where the park has to position staff to prevent non-guests from parking there. This is already done full-time by a guard house at the Breakers parking lot and the Marina Lot. I can see this being done as an enhancement to the resort guest experience and increase preferred/valet parking sales at the main lot.

(Careful what you wish for... It's starting to make even more sense why they've introduced Preferred and Valet Parking)

^^ Four if you count the beach entrance by WindSeeker, which I'm under the impression they refurbished when they built that ride.

That was refurbished with Lakedise Pavilion, not Windseeker.

Parking lots and gates are inanimate objects, incapable of being 'abused'. If Cedar Point doesn't like the manner in which people are using said lots and gates, they'll let us know and act accordingly. Which, you'll notice, they haven't.

The simple fact that there are Guard Posts and Extra Staff placed at lot entrances is letting you know they do not want unregistered guests using those areas. Also, they direct Soak City attendees where to park at the parking booths and give them specific parking passes to use the soak city lot, as well as marina slip holders and resort guests get specific parking permits as well. By definition 'parking permits' permit you to park in allocated areas.

Resort guests also get resort gate passes, which have been redesigned this year with name and date designations. These are mainly used as early entry admissions now.

I'm suggesting this may very well be addressed in the near future.

I've parked at Soak City many times over the decades and never once had a Cedar Point employee tell me that only customers of that park are allowed to park there.

When I worked in Challenge Park, I used to park over there ALL the time. Never got written up either!

5 of the 7 days I stayed at Lighthouse Point this July they staffed the entrances when the lots started filling up. They asked to see your Resort Parking permit, which is placed on your dash, when entering.

They also didn't have Preferred parking or Valet parking for decades either, things can change.

I'm not talking about parking at the Hotel Breakers lot. That lot has always been reserved--and enforced--for Breakers' guests. And I've never stayed at Lighthouse Point, so I have no experience about the parking there. I'm specifically talking about the Soak City parking lot, which except for special events has always been open to all Cedar Point customers.

The employees were staffed at the area where the road splits to Soak City, Lighthouse Point and Sandcastle. And were directing people from there where to park, i.e. Soak City parking permit from the booths or Resort Permit.

I'm aware, as are you, that Breakers and Marina has this, why wouldn't a redesigned gate get the same treatment?

Then why go through the trouble of making Separate Soak City parking permits for the Booth to hand out? And newly redesigned Resort Guest passes?

I've parked at the SC lot 4 times in the past few weeks and we weren't given any type of pass nor was anyone directing the traffic flow. Each of the days the park was busy as well, especially yesterday.

I've been parking back there for about 10 years now, always use the resort booth at the front, and have never been told that I can't park back there. In fact, they use it as an overflow lot for extremely busy Halloweekend saturdays. I will, until told otherwise, continue to park back there and abuse said gates. ;-)

Grim reaper came for Mantis and it was converted.....grim reaper typically means death.

When they axe the forest the usually replant or not cut down all the trees....

Who knows...this is what makes this all fun.

Always park in the back, best place to park!
