Not much to say here except go see it! I'm downloading right now...

Man, I need to get a T1 line. But I can't afford one.

Being in college and having a T3 at my disposal, I downloaded that sucker in a minute or so. It's not so much a full POV as it is some sort of promo video. It's still pretty cool although the beginning is kind of wierd. It shows more of the ride, but it rushes though some of the latter portions of it.

What could be better than Y2K @ Cedar Point - America's Rock 'n Roller Coast?
i just downloaded it at work (we only have isdn, but it's better than a regular dialup)... i was quite disappointed ... i didn't want to watch a commercial, i wanted to watch the full POV simulation and have it just like the partial one they released previously. most of the people who will download the video already know all of the stats of the ride or they can easily find them on the website while they dl the video... having the POV cut away repeatedly to show all of the stats takes away from the experience... hopefully CP won't disappoint us and will release a full ride POV ONLY file soon.
I downloaded, and would say its a waste of time, except to get a glimpse of the commercials they will likely run this year. Those ought to be pretty cool. There isn't more than a second or two of each of the sections not shown in the other videos. Its a come-on frankly. Interesting, but in no way what they make it out to be. They are just jerking people's chains until next summer.

I think this is as close as we're gonna get to a full POV for a while. The less the park releases about the actual ride, the more everyone wonders about the ride. By feeding us little bits (of what's left to publicly release) here and there, marketing is keeping us guessing and on the edge of our seats. Don't worry about it. May is only 5 long painful months away :(

And I'll bet dollars to donuts that Jeff doesn't have any copy of the full POV to show. If he did, I'll bet that CP would hunt him down like a dog to remove it.

That5 is the most awesome CP promo video/commer. I've ever seen! I wonder what that cost to make?

Of the promos they've done, this one is hands down the best. I like it, very creative. Understand that the whole, unaltered POV would make for one dry promo, so they had to do something with it (and it's long, too). I have seen the POV naked, and it does give a better feeling for the ride.

By the way, this is what I got in the mail today. I'll try to post a slimmed down, low-bandwidth version of it tonight.

I'll betcha that is what they play in hte queue lines on monitors, similar to what they have at Magnum queues

Hehe... same thing I was thinking...All of our usual favorite CP summertime songs with the added interspersings of all those torturous--er I mean cool--promos saying that MF is one tall MF and that expectant mothers and pets shouldn't ride. ;) Just give me Marcus D and all will be cool. Well anyway, what did I think of the video? Space intro with penisula fly-by: very cool; 2nd part--Watching for the signs: Definitely less than cool especially with the stockbroker guy in that sucktacular(couldn't resist) suit; everything else: Although like others have already said, it goes a little fast, who cares--that's what we have the pause button for--definitely a thumbs up. We finally have a full ride animation which means we won't be as restless for a while again, and Cedar Point is definitely heading in the right marketing direction with this type of promo. GOOD JOB! Now I just have to renew my season pass...

WOW! If this is the marketing startegy they are going to take, they are moving in the right direction. SFO does not stand a chance.
Looking again at that promo, one has to wonder if they are building a roller coaster or a time machine. ;)

Didn't like it -- wanted the full POV.

I understand that the naked POV would make for one dull promo, but for the diehards (who, like probie said, already know the dimensions) it's what we've been waiting for.

Would a full POV in any way affect my excitement or desire about this ride? Not on your life!

W-O-W... I was thoroughly impressed... I expected a dry, full run POV... and IMO, got much more... I'm a major marketing critic, in my own mind, and this grabs your attention, and forces you to watch the entire thing. I'm extremely impressed with the marketing strategy they're taking with this, and I'm sure this will prove to be one hell of a ride. Can't wait :)

I thought it was pretty cool.
Interesting appeal to a different demographic than CP usually goes for - more late teens/early 20's than families and teenagers. Obviously not much new about the ride itself...

CP fan since 68.
Cool promo! I like the MF logo in the clouds. Even though the complete ride is screened in the background, I do want to see a clear POV. Getting antsy for May.

Isn't the late teens/early 20's demographic something Six Flags goes for? I think this was probably planned to go head to head against Six Flags Ohio. BTW, I think the promo is one of the best videos of it's type I've seen. Very creative and slick. It has kind of an X-Files type feel to it that is very engaging.
Question: Now that CP has apparently lifted the embargo, has anybody checked the Intraxx site to see if *they* are showing the full POV animation? --Dave Althoff, Jr. (who can't check that at this moment...)
