Track photos

You'd think that they would think of a name before they painted the track.....

OMG! The Space Spiral is leaning!!" Must be the weight of that new air conditioning system everyone keeps hypothesizing about...

"its possible that Cedar Point told Intamin the name of the ride in advance (for some reason that my imagination can't think of right now),"

....who decals the trains? Does CP have a detailer that comes in and does it or does the Coaster builder usualy do this?

That is one reason why Intamin may know the name.

Usually the park handles those things.
Nice job, Walt. Made us proud. :-)

Duh, but why would the manufactioner have to know the name?

Look how freaking wide those supports will be at the base! I knew it was going to be huge, and being on Gemini I guess you don't get that much of a perspective of how huge that footer is!

Look at this new support that arrived today. It's got 12 holes. Seems to be a support going on a footer in Area 51.

Also, with I beams being placed in Area 51 today, what could these be for? Can they be pouring a cylinder of concrete around them for footers or could they be for a building to house launching equipment? I don't think it's a station because those huge footers are located in Area 51.

It could be to house the launch equipment...if the pull-up is going to be big enough to prevent too high of G's there would definitely be clearance for a building...

I'm guessing that the I-beams are for housing the launch equipment. If you look at Xcelerator, you see that the launch equipment is housed directly under the ascent of the top hat... if Area 51 turns out to be the location of the top hat, the launch equipment should be there too.

Going back to the three pictures on the previous page...

I'd just like to add that the yellow piping sticking out under the fence looks to me like water pressure pipe (150 psi I think?) that I sold while working at the local hardware store for over 2 years. I'm guessing about 2" in Diameter. Possibly to be used for the hydraulics?

Actually OHCoasterfreak, I saw that pipe tyester while at the park and it actually looked like gas pipe. I think the picture is a little scewed which makes th epipe look bigger. I am also pretty sure becuase both ends of the pipe were crimped, and it was 1/8' thick walled pipe. But why they would need gas pipe, I have not a clue! I also don't think they could use plastic pipe for hydraulics, due to...well... the extreme pressure. Most likely solid steel, or steel braided rubber hose, like that on the outside of PT.

I wonder if Cedar Point Came up with the efficent and tricky Code name "Dragster" after that incident with a man in womens clothing a few weeks ago... Not that Im being serious or anything because I myself have been a drag queen a few times, but I just thought some one should say something unserious in here cause my head hurts from all this really serious discussion.... have fun guys! =o)
And I thought it was sad that I drove an hour to the park after work the day the track showed up just to see it in person...

You guys really need to calm down on the speculating, stop reading into things so much, and just calm down in general and let things unfold.

Oh...and read the entire damn thread before posting to it! How many times do we need to see someone speculate about something, have someone else reason that speculation to be false, and then have somenone else speculate the same freaking thing again?

Okay...that's all :o)

I know what you mean, Draegs. I was getting sick of reading posts about how the T-452 thing had nothing to do with height, and then a page later see another "I saw this picture and I was wondering if the T-452 thing had anything to do with the height........"

I just did some research and found that Janotta & Herner Inc. are possibly doing the footers. http://www.janottaherner.com/page3.html That page on their website says that they work with concrete and steel structures. Looking at the picture they have on there you can obviously see some kind of foundation for something which looks similar to the giant footers we have seen in construction pics for WT and MF. Click project gallery and it will show and tell you about how they work with concrete and stuff. It looks like CP may have had them do footers or some kind of constuction in the past since you can see on their site that they have worked on buildings in the Sandusky area. http://www.thepointol.com/~pointmania/9.jpg That is where i saw the name on the trailer and then looked for a website. I just thought it would be useful to know about that company doing construction or whatever.

I had noticed this before and planned on posting it.

They did work for breakers express and for the new tower on the island. 3 times with intamin and 3 times with them.

http://www.thepointol.com/~pointmania/9.jpg HA! A porta-potty! (Upper right hand side) There's definitely something going in now!

Yes, you know official construction has begun when there is a potra-potty on site! Also, you know serious construction has started when there is a line to the potra-potty. :)
