Why do you want to work at Cedar Point?

Last summer I worked there because I didn't want to move back in with parents during the summer and because CP is amazing.

Last summer a lady around 65 yrs old tripped when trying to get off the train. She cut her arm pretty badly. She was the nicest lady ever. I helped her as best as I could then sent her to first aid.

3 weeks later her and her husband came back to the park and came back to the train. I greeted her by name and she got a huge smile on her face because she was so amazed that I remembered her. :)

They continued to come back to the train around once a week to come see me. They are one of the main reasons as to why I am coming back. :)

I come back for a lot of reason's. This will be my third season at Cedar Point. I've worked at a couple other amusement parks and have had few good guest experiences. But at CP, things seem to be different. Totally different crowds than parks down south. Of course we all have our fair share of difficult guests, but I have by far encountered more positive guests experiences here than any where else.
First, your crew is your family. You would think that after working with, living with and hanging out with your crew 24/7 that you would get tired of each other. But I've noticed the opposite. In the end, they become life long friends.
Second, I love that we have regular guests. To me, those are the ones who make it truly worth it. The people who really value what you do for them. These people who love the rides we work, and the park we work in. They become almost like honorary crew members. At MF, we have single rider Bob, and he brings us candy all the time. He's not the only one either. Knowing these people personally and by name, to me is pretty cool. That's not something I experienced at other parks.
Third, I just love working at parks. And believe it or not, it's really simple to turn a bad situation into a good one. For example, MF was down mechanical one day last summer. It was a lengthy delay but we had a few guests who stuck it out. There was this one group in particular that I remember. Of course they had tons of questions about the situation, and of course I couldn't say much because, honestly, we all know that typically when it's mechanical, we really DON'T know what the problem is or how long it will be. I talked to these guests like a friend. I answered their questions the best I could. They understood the policy about forfeiting their spot in line if they left, so they stayed despite the warm temperature. But you know what got me guest compliments out of the situation? They complained about being thirsty and obviously couldn't leave the line to get a drink so I offered to fill their water bottles with the icy employee water. To them, that was a huge deal. They even offered me money, and of course I declined.
It's how such a simple gesture can make a persons day. How really it doesn't hurt to go a little out of your way. And it pays off, and you will have the "spotlight on you" to show for it. It may be just a piece of paper to some, but to me it's an incentive. Not to mention it is our job!
This is why I return every year. :-)

Last year was my first summer working at the Point, and I really enjoyed it. I was transferred to Antique Cars/Wave Swinger towards the end of July and stayed there until my Contract was over. Every Thursday afternoon, there was an elderly couple who would come and ride Tiques. She was in a Wheelchair, and I would always help her on, and off the car. Somehow, it always worked out that I would send their car out of the station, and drive it back in. At the end of their ride, they both would smile when they saw me walking out to get their car. Also, Mean Streak Henry and his wife would always talk to me when I was on break, rotation, or had the day off. I wonder how many times Henry will ride Mean Streak this year?

Shame on you Emalee. Just joking, lol!!

:D mean streak Henry is awesome!

I wanted to come back to cedar point because it challenged me, my crew was amazing, we all pushed each other to do our best and in the end it paid off. Guests can get frustrating, but they're what make the job awesome, without them, we wouldn't really have a job.

This year is my first year working at Cedar Point. I applied because I have always loved the park and every time I would go to Cedar Point I would have an amazing time. When I got the call to come in for an interview I was beyond excited my only other job I got because I needed a job and not because I wanted it. At my old job I felt like my managers did not want me there and the only ones who did where my general manager and scheduling manager so when I left for school I was happy and did not want to go back. When I interviewed I felt that my interviewer really wanted me there and I was so happy when he offered me the job.
I will be a ride photo associate for the Millennium Force!

The opportunities that you can have. Between working your way up, learning leadership skills and communication skills you can use, and being able to network yourself not just through other employees but through guests too. Plus it makes summer more fun then having any other job, everyday is fun as long a you make it that way.

And for the fall..nothing better than scaring people.

11 years.
