Winter Chill Out 2018

Considering I usually only go on Sundays, I'm very disappointed that one of the few places I would eat at with my dining plan over the past 2 seasons won't be an option anymore. Hopefully, the new food choices make up for this loss or I will most likely stop purchasing the platinum meal plan in the future.

So no fog in the tunnel.

If fog shut down Maverick, it must go down a lot at night during halloweekends with all the fog back in that area ;)

From what I heard, all that fog being pumped directly into the tunnel set off smoke detectors. Maybe there's something that makes it prohibitively expensive to replace the smoke detectors with ones that are used on other fog rides?

I am sure they ran the numbers MULTIPLE times, and the ROI of having Chick Fil A was far greater than Frontier Inn. From what I understand, Frontier Inn was the park's attempt at creating a restaurant that would curb the need for chain restaurants by providing a superior product all in-house. It fell flat. The fact that Chick Fil A was gone for only 2 seasons should tell us all we need to know about the cash cow that it was, Sunday closings and all...

Re: Sandcastle Suites land

Jason McClure, Cedar Point's vice president and general manager, said more is planned for the land, which is ideally located at the western end of the Cedar Point peninsula, with Lake Erie on one side and Sandusky Bay on the other.

"We have plenty of space back there to build," said McClure. "It's an amazing piece of land. To me, it's a ripe opportunity for our continued resort development."

He said an announcement about the property wasn't likely until the fall, at the earliest.

This and the future of the old stadium site are easily the most interesting things coming out of WCO, my opinion. A close third is the full service Sand Bar.

I was surprised Jason admitted an announcement could be coming this fall.

Susan, The Plain Dealer writer, was in our group. Literally 15 minutes earlier Tony had said there was nothing else to say about that spot other than SS was gone and the RV spots were put in. The media got to stay behind while we went to see the marketing promotion being rolled out this summer. In that little session, the former SS spot and the potential shortage of accommodations were brought up and denied again.

I was outside discussing the topic with a few other RWC members immediately after the marketing show when Susan walked up and told us about Jason's comment.

If Tony or Jason had acknowledged an announcement later this year, it would have gotten a lot more fanfare than the Chick-fil-A announcement, which felt like a silent disappointment in our group.

I would agree, but everyone also seems to forget the plot of land vacated by STR as well. I have a hard time believing that the "Fling" will be the only addition there in the coming years. I'm assuming no one asked about that since time has moved on from STR.

It’s a really nice station too. I have a feeling they kept that around for a reason.

Halloweekends- Harvest Fear, Tombstone Terror-Tory
Ride Operations- Professor Delbert’s Frontier Fling

I was in the 8:30 Q and A group. I forgot to ask about staffing issues and the steps initiated to prevent last falls debacle. I do know that wages have been raised in certain food service areas. I wonder if it was addressed in another session?

Since this was not an investor relations event, I cannot imagine them even addressing such a question if it was raised.

When someone asked about Freestyle locations constantly being closed last year, Tony said that won't be an issue this year.

Right? They didn't just go in and demo everything. And obviously its presence doesn't mean it will be used, but it's at least a possibility. The rapids themselves always looked nice; it was shooting them that was the problem.

Who says I will be? If I'm invited, I'll gladly help the park promote their new ride. If I'm not, then so be it.....I'll live. I won't cry about it on a forum just because I think my enthusiasm for the park entitles me to the event and any future events.

Get over yourself dude.

That is awesome news! Thanks.

I don’t think I’m entitled, I think WE are entitled.

And you know you’ll be invited. You were to Valravn. You didn’t have a fight with Tony, right?

I'm surprised no one brought up how cool it was that we could peek in to see Dragster's engine and cable. Aside from SV, that was one of the highlights for me.

Don't bring all of us into this because you want to whine your way into media day. "We" are entitled to nothing. Media is entitled to media. Coast, you are NOT the media. If Adam or anyone else representing Pointbuzz is invited, it is because they are acting as media. You want to go just to get on the ride early and brag about it. They want to go to actually report on things.

Give me a break dude. Some of you act like it’s a privilege to hand over money to Cedar Point. You have this all reversed. They should be thankful for us, not the other way around.

Yes, I am entitled as their paying customer. Yes, I do complain if I feel they did something stupid like selling out for an event for charity or offering tickets for sale beginning at midnight. Stupid.

Yes, call me an enthusiass. I complain when necessary and view my relationship with the park that it’s their privilege to have my business and serve me. Get with it guys. The customer has the power, not the seller.

Back track much?

I do think Coast exaggerates a bit. But I think he has a point, too, because it seems like some people here actively encourage the park to restrict media day and keep the status quo, and self-flagellate themselves, belittling the community and creating an straw man persona of a greedy, entitled, unappreciative, stuck-up enthusiast to prove that the park shouldn't have events, despite being part of the community who enjoys those events, screaming "We're not worthy, don't give us anything!" Yes, I have interpreted some posts here as actively discouraging events.

As for TTD's engine, that was a really nice surprise, it's amazing to see how complicated that thing is. I wonder how loud it is in there when launching...
