4th of July @ CP

I've heard that the crowds for 4th of July really aren't that bad at Cedar Point... my question is, how true is this for those of you that have been?

I've got the 4th off from work for the first time in like 4 years, and I've never been to CP on the 4th. I'm toying with the idea of going down, but if it's gonna be a summer saturday crowd, I'm not gonna bother. Any help?

Ha! Not that bad? I've never seen it more busy. It's hard to find a parking space in the Soak City lot.

Of course, the fireworks are pretty cool. Check them in the gallery at:

Stay far away from Cedar Point on the 4th of July. It's a full house.

Hey Jeff, would you suggest driving to the Point for the purpose of seeing the fireworks alone?

Yes, because it's cool, but be ready to deal with a gigantic crowd. Thousands of people come in, pay for the parking, and head out to the beach without entering the park. That's what makes it such a zoo.

Of course, last year it was so oppressively hot that I was in a bad mood to begin with, so perhaps it won't be as bad if it's not too hot.

Jeff and Matt...huh?

I've been to CP twice on the 4th in the last ten years. Both days were gorgeous and the park was dead! Every ride was a walk-on. My experience with other parks has been the same. I went to Hershey Park on Memerial Day this year. It was dead too. We rode Lightning Racer four times in a matter of about ten minutes.

Families are having their picnics in the park and pool parties that day. I guess it just depends.
What???

Last season I didn't wait over fifteen minutes for any ride with the exception of Raptor, Power Tower, and Disaster Transport.

The year before was even better. Maybe it was just luck but it seemed that it was packed but no one was riding anything.

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
I spoke with a tour bus driver who is a customer at the video store I work at, and he recommended the Friday before the 4th. From his experience, the park is very dead. Too bad I'm stuck working. hehe

I was at the park last year and I thought it was the busiest ever. Huge waits for everything, I like the idea of just being there for the pyrotechnics.

being that the 4th is on a tuesday this year it MIGHT not be as buisy.i know ill be there, jeff is right, they have one of the best fireworks shows around(kinda like the ones on the detroit river)i sure hope it is dead becouse im taking my girlfriend and her son on that day,her son is ten and never been to the point b4.
Last year, Jeff (screechnowl) and I went on July 5th. We are going again this year on the 5th also. It was great, the crowds arnt that bad, becuase everyone comes on the 4th. The 4th is pretty packed, I would stay away on that day.

I did 4th of July weekend once and vowed never to do it again. I think the shortest wait for any ride was over an hour.

I'm going up next week for three days (Mon-Wed)...hopefully it will be less crowded, since people are probably holding off their plans until the 4th.
Well, Stephen, we had the same thought - we'll be there late next Sunday through Tuesday - let's hope not too many more people had the same idea!
