6 trains!

After looking at stuff again, we have two load stations and two unload stations. Two trains will be loading in the station while one is at the launch area. The turnaround actually seems to be an unload area capable of having two trains in it at once.

We have a coaster with four stations!

Where are you seeing four stations? I see one, with people loading and unloading in the same area.

Watch the animation on the website. There are stairs leading down from a platform in the turnaround (where trains are going slow enough to stop) that looks like it is long enough to hold two trains.

John, that logic is comparable to measuring photographs. It's a cartoon.

That's tough to tell whether there will be unloading on the turnaround. It seems like a possibility after watching the video, but if you look at the layout drawing it looks like you will unload in the station and exit to the right.

I agree Majin, that looks like an exit. It also looks like you would walk under the launch track during the entrance, which seems pretty neat.

The main station can hold 2 trains, And the turn around looks like its connected to the station. I thought of this too, They might have an unloading station there too.

Those trains are seet looking. It's so nice to see Cedar Point do some good theming for once. Or so it appers that way......

Aww.....Florida! But That's America's Wang

But keep in mind that they have those 2 transfer tracks.... so they might only actually operate 4 at a time, if that.

Also, if they operate 4, the brake run itself could prolly hold them all. Otherwise, 1 loading, 1 unloading, 1 on the track and one in the brakes (near the station)

they would only have all six trains running when the need maximum capacity during july and august. only 4 might run during may and september. also OBLIVION in england has a 30second load and unload time.
If everything is working fine, i think they will run it at full capacity with all 6 trains running all the time.

Please guys this is Cedar Point, the same park that makes Gemini open with 6 trains, when pretty much every person has an entire train to themself. You can bet all 6 trains will be in operation throughout the entire summer.

Those transfer/storage tracks are long enough to fit all 6 trains (3 on each). MF only has one transfer/storage track and it can hold all 3 trains.

Gemini is a racing coaster, and unfortunately it usually only runs one side, with two trains each. Except I have a feeling that Dragster will boost that up to three on each side because people will be in that area.
Hmm well it's off topic but I worked there, trust me, we ran three trains, on both sides of the track, all through July and August and Saturdays in June.

It would be interesting to know how the launch sled will get back down the long launch track in time to hook up and launch the next train. There must be some mechanism for reversing the hydraulic catapault to get it flying back down the rail at high speed. Just imagine the complexity of the launch mechanism to be able to generate that much horsepower every 40 seconds for 12-15 hours a day, day after day.

CWD

Two thoughts, CWD...

Thought #1: If I were designing this system (and I didn't design it, so I'm probably completely wrong) I would use a continuous launch cable with two pushers on it. So that once the thing flew down the track, the second pusher would be lined up for the next train. It wouldn't be too hard to make a launch mechanism do that. They probably didn't, but that's how I'd handle it.

Thought #2: The launch requires a whole lot of energy which is logically built up gradually during a recharge cycle. But there is no rule I can think of that would prevent the use of multiple accumulators to allow for two or more pressure systems. The idea is that a longer cycle time could be available for each of several accumulators, discharged in sequence on successive launches. The other thought about that is that if one of the systems fails, the ride could still operate on the remaining system, albeit with a longer interval between launches.

Again, mere speculation.

That's reasonable speculation. Look at how many cylinders Xcelerator has.

So....if they were to double the amount of cylinders that Xcelerator has (doesn't Xcelerator have 3 trains?), then, ideally they could double the number of trains?

Looking at that picture, it seems to me that Xcelerator has two pressure systems. If CP installed 3 or 4 systems, you would always have at least two at rest/recharging.

It all depends on how long it takes to charge the system. There's another photo out there (and that isn't the best one) that gives a better idea of how many connections there are to the drive system. It's hard to tell on Xcelerator how many charging systems there are 'cause we don't know how many of those accumulators are used at any time to run the ride. But a dual system seems reasonable.
