A man torn between two coasters

I just gotta say, the more I think about it, the more I'm torn between these two coasters. Magnum has and always will be my baby, but on the other hand Millennium Force is an amazing ride experience. When I ride the Force I miss Magnum, and when I'm riding Magnum I miss the Force. I love the speed on Millennium Force as much as I love the airtime on Magnum. When it comes to the trains, I love the trains on both coasters, then again I'd love to see a version of the MF trains on magnum. There are ONLY two advantages that Millennium Force has that Magnum doesn't. The first one being that the drop on Millennium Force is awesome. The drop on Magnum is still good (Scott really offended me when he called Magnum's drop a ramp.) Anyway the other factor is that I have been with Millennium Force since day 1, I have seen it rise, with Magnum it was already established when I fell in love with it. If you take the first drops off both coasters I love each ride for what they are. Its just so hard to pick ONE favorite.

Its hard to pick a favorite. For now I just guess that I have to race after my goals for both coasters.

it's like playing favorites with your children, isn't it? either that, or look at it like this...Maggy has always been there for you, like an old friend who will never leave you. MF is like the new girlfriend, you are still in the giddy first stages of new love...neither is BETTER than the other. they both have a place in your life. you just have to determine what that place is, then let them duke it out amongst themselves...
another quick analogy..i am a RABID U2 fan and my loyalty to BONO never fades. but occasionally i go to see other bands play. does this mean i love U2 any less? nah. i'm just enjoying other options while i wait for them to come back...

can't believe they cancelled the Simpsons after all these years...now look sad and say D'OH!!
Well you sweetest thing you. U2 fan also. I hear you dan. I am in the same dilemma over Raptor and MF. And servo even though you heard me yell Raptor is still my #1, ah well that is not for certain now. MF is in a class by itself. The Awe, the anticipation, heck I still can't really describe it perfectly. When I think of it the way it will probably turn out for me is something like this. Millennium Force will most likely be my favorite coaster. (NO) But Raptor will always be there to back me up, never let me forget about learning to ride. That is what I grew up on. I still enjoy raptor but the difference is this: Walking off Raptor this year only a few have been great rides, last year all were. Walking off MF this year all have been great. hard to describe but I think you understand

I come from Dan's angle about "growing up" with the ride. Sure, I've been riding Magnum since it was built, but the Force was there when I photographed pieces in the bone yard, got the press kit in the mail and toured the site at various stages of its construction. While every ride has been amazing, it was odd how well I knew the ride before it even opened.

I have the same dilemma Dan, I like the magnum for its track layout - how its out of the way, I like the train style, and color scheme not to mention airtime. I like MF for its speed, angle of decent, and overbanked turn. I like both coasters for the no loop/corkscrew idea.
I myself never could really say I had a favorite coaster for the fact that each coaster, at every park, has a different element that I like more than another coaster. So to choose a favorite would be hard. There are so many different ones made by different companies, so I dont think I can choose just one! But I can see where Dan is comming from. Dan dont have kids, take mine! LOL

The more you ride it, the more you want it!

~~~Darla~~~
Well I'm gonna have to go with MF because Magnum beat me up today :(. It was actually ROUGH!! I rode the ejector for the first time and my neck almost flopped off! I thought I had whiplash. It was more painful than MS. (Which was running GREAT today!!! Little braking on the drop made us FLY through it. I'm thinking we hit above 60 mph today! Even caught some air and wicked laterals!)
Dan, if the pattern I have noticed in the past few years holds true, Magnum will be the favorite after the novilty of MF dies down. However, this coaster may break the trend. There is no way to know.
"the Force of the new Millennium will be felt by those who choose to seek it.
I will agree w/ JT Coaster-- I notice every now and then around the net people talking about a coaster like it's a god or something, but Magnum always ends up at the top of the list somehow. This year Magnum will probably take a back seat to MF on all the coaster polls, but it will probably end up back in first place again in the next year or so.
Ok Hooper=I figured you'd want to know how I felt about MF vs my baby Raptor
I feel torn as Dan does
MF is a rush-
and I ADORE it dearly
it leaves me breathless and wanting more
but my favorite all in all is still Raptor
but I am not shooting for 400 lifetime rides this year anymore-decided to shoot for 300
and ride MF as much as I can to see how many total laps I can get in by year end
No goal-just curious
so there you have it Hooper
I am still quite faithful to my fav bird of prey
Goal: 300
Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
Here is how you see which is your favorite. Look at which one you ride the most between the 2 and you have your answer. Or Put yourself in this situation. If the park was closing and you had time for one more coaster, both having no wait, which would you choose
Thanks luvraptor. And magnum2G3 I have ridden Raptor more (as in my sig). But each night before closing I am always in the MF line. As for ERT on Raptor or MF for coastermania I have made my decision. See you in line for......MILLENNIUM FORCE at 7am. It's kinda like Raptor is my wife, and WOAH BABY, check out this new chic, MF. I guess I cheat on Raptor each time I ride MF. The good thing here is it is impossible for Raptor to find out HE HE.
I have to be honest.I'm not realy torn between MF and Magnum.Don't get me wrong,I love MF,but it doesn't have the magic that Mag has. It's such a relaxing atmosphere on Mag. I don't think it will ever be beat! The speed & intensity of MF are great! But I can always count on Mag being there for me! Like M.C Hammer once sang:YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS!!!!! *** This post was edited by Magnum"Candy"Man on 6/1/2000. ***
Well I'm not torn. MF. It's just more fun, and that's the bottom line for me. Magnum doesn't offer as much. It's just Up, down, up, down, up, down, turn, up, down, up, down.....stop. Not that it's boring, I just like the variety of MF a little better. The banking on MF is just awesome and the transitions between elements are perfect!
I'm torn as well I love the two of them and I don't think I'll ever make up my mind. But one thing stands true the Magnum will never die.
Well I've made up my mind and the answer is to stay with my baby Magnum.
Bravo Dan!!!!!
Not hard for me. Magnum is the best steel coaster I have ever rode. Millennium Force isn't.
