All Season Dining Plan Changes

Maybe they want a place that is open on Sundays.

If Chic Fil A is truly leaving the Point (I am waiting to hear this from CP), I get the feeling that it was not Cedar Point's idea. While it is closed on Sunday's, I don't think any one can argue that it was one of the most popular food locations. Each time I decided to eat there the line was out the door. Taking away one of the most popular food locations is a poor money making decision. I am willing to bet that it is Chic Fil A that no longer wants to be in Cedar Point.

What, people are just going to skip a meal because there is no Chic-Fil-A?

I'd much rather have the Chicken Shack like at King's Island than Chick-fil-A. Is the one at KI actually a chain? I guess if it is, I had never heard of it. I do eat there with the meal plan almost every time I am at KI though and enjoy it. In general, KI has a lot better variety for meal plan food than CP ever has. Hopefuly something they're working on.

Maybe the park wanted to stipulate that they had to be open on Sunday's and CFA wouldn't allow it so they walked away from signing the renewal contract.

Seems to me, though, if being closed on Sundays was an issue it would have been on the table when the first deal was negotiated.

As Jeff notes, folks aren't going to skip a meal because they can't have a Chik-fil-a sandwich; they'll just go somewhere else to eat. The park will continue to earn money and won't have to pay franchise fees to CFA Properties Inc. (I'm assuming Cedar Fair is the franchisee.)

I had been told by several people that it was the Detroit-centric Chicken Shack. But in just doing some of my own research, I don't think that's accurate. As you have pointed out, there are many places called Chicken Shack, and I think the same food concept and name might be confusing some.

Though I haven't confirmed it, I think it's Kings Island's own take on the popular concept of hand-breaded chicken tenders with a special creamy dipping sauce, fries, coleslaw, and Texas toast, like you'd find at Raising Canes or the Detroit-based Chicken Shack.

Regardless, I found the hand-breaded chicken tenders to be much higher quality than the frozen ones in the park, and it was a satisfying meal that I've eaten regularly at Kings Island.

In the south that's Zaxby's. It's OK as a variety of fried forms of chicken. "Zaxby Sauce" is their thing.

As someone originally from the south, Zaxby's is superior to Chick Fil A. They have a wider selection and the food is better. I wouldn't mind at all to see that added to CP even with a limited menu.

Yeah, I agree, it's no contest at all.

I wonder if they will consider an in-house restaurant instead of a chain simply because of how busy the Chick-Fil-A always was. I remember that place being pretty empty when it used to be Frontier Inn. It does help that Maverick's exit dumps you right in front of it.

Zaxby's really is delicious! I love it there.

It's now officially confirmed that CFA is not coming back according to this news article. They mentioned PointBuzz and this thread. They even mentioned you TwistedWicker77.

While reading the fine print for the $24.99 cup it states that it is only usable at Cedar Point. We also have platinum passes this year and the dining plan and I was hoping to just buy one cup and take it everywhere. We had regular passes last year and got two cups for the $1 refills and visited several times.

Not really broken up about this. I liked CFA a lot at one point. Then I quit eating there for moral reasons and haven't so much as touched a waffle fry since. If a better chicken joint takes the spot, more power to 'em.

I still don't see Cedar Point food becoming a night & day difference.

Until they can offer food like at BGW and for their prices, I'm not gong to be super impressed.

The head chef at KI was essentially a "people gatta eat" kinda day..and his food sucked.

Just simply training people how to prepare the food they serve now would make a huge difference.

Get rid of heat lamps in walk up stands and make food as demand requires it.
A lot of food is over cooked and set out under heat lamps to dry out.

Someone that knows quick service food- could make big strides in appearance, taste and speed at the parks existing facilities.

I doubt that works in the super high volume Cedar Point has. People are not going to be patient enough standing at the counter trying to heard 3 kids and wait for their food to be cooked to order.

Give the guy some time. He hasn't been there a year yet, and you can't a food service the size of Cedar Point's around on a dime.
