america's rollercoast?????

i just relized that on all of cedar points advertisising they are saying "the one and only cedar point".what ever happend to america's rollercoast??i did hear a rumer that kings island is adding 2 new coasters in 2001-2002?if this is true, than the point will no longer hold this recard.so are they trying to get away from saying americas roller coast?
Why couldn't they still use America's rollercoast? It doesn't say they have the most coasters.

Also, on the rides I noticed they say America's Rockin' Rollercoast! Got to love that ;)
Actually there new motto is 'The number one and only, Cedar Point.' I'm guessing because of all there records with MF.

Whats life if you never get to the point?
"America's Roller Coast" has been around for a long time, and I have a feeling that it is not going anywhere soon. That as been a slogan for as long as I can remember. There are alot of additional slogans too, such as:
"What's Life If You Never Get To The Point?"
"Cedar Point-- Real Thrills"
"On Top Of The World In Sandusky, Ohio"
and MANY, MANY more. "The Number One and Only Cedar Point" is just another, and will come and go like any other. If you notice, Cedar Point usually doesn't use "America's Roller Coast" in their ads, but in the ride spiels, they always use "America's Roller Coast" or "America's Rock And Roller Coast".

To answer your second question:
Sure, it is VERY possible that PKI will get two new Roller Coasters for 2001-2002, but who here can tell me FOR SURE that Cedar Point won't? Cedar Point takes a lot of pride in its world records, and I don't think they will give them up so easily.

"The one and only Cedar Point" sounds like there's only one Cedar Point. That is not true. http://www.virginiagolf.com/cedarpoint.html (I know this is here because a couple years ago I was searching for CP info and I kept running across this :) )
Yeah but this Cedar Point is the only one that really matters. :)

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
If PKI gets two new coasters CP will still be better! I believe they have 2 or 3 kiddie coasters. CP has two but one is worth riding. Cedar Point will still be MY AND MANY OTHERS America's Rollercoast!

CP is the best... they have the best Coasters at a great location... they are unique.... they have a great record... they are the best... and real coaster fans will always know that!!!!!

CP the best... and if you wanna argue that I'll take you down...

Growing up in the 80's, CP will always be the "Amazement Park" to me.

I like PKI, but I don't care if they added 10 new coasters. PKI will never be as good as CP.

Anybody remember the commercial CP used to play back in the 80's. When the summer season was winding down. They would show the rides during the winter all closed down and vacant. And they would play this sad music and say something like "You can still get to CP, but you better hurry...........summer is going fast." I still get chills down my spine thinking about that.

Bernz,

I remember exactly the commercial you are talking about--the shot of the Corkscrew's corkscrew in summer, then blended nearly perfectly in with the same shot in wintertime...the trains for the Gemini, covered and off the track(?), in a snow storm...the picture of the Wave Swinger in the final shades of summer twilight while the "but hurry, summer's fading fast" (I remember the word being "fading") dialog was being said over the solo piano music that played through the entire spot....

For some reason, this is the only CP commercial I've ever remembered, perhaps because it was one of the things that signalled the end of summer to me (and summer was not summer when I was growing up without the annual day trip to CP). Perhaps because it was played for several years in the Detroit market (I was very disappointed when they stopped playing it, since I liked it so much). Who knows for sure?

Didn't they used to play "Cedar Point is the cure for the summertime blues?"
Wow Michigan Man, you got a better memory than I do! You are absolutely right, thanks. I miss that commercial. I would love to see a video containing every commercial cedar point ever did.

I forgot about the "Cedar Point is the cure for the summertime blues" commercial.

I also used to love the one for the Magnum. They had this little kid slowly climbing the steps of a huge slide. You hear this creepy "Teddy Bear Teddy Bear" music in the background. And just as he gets to the top you hear "When your all grown up, your ready......for the Magnum!" and then they cut to the POV of the first drop of Magnum. "New this summer.......at Cedar Point! That gave me chills too!

i rember the one with the boy laying in the snow making snow angles.
Why don't they say "Americas Record Breaking Roller Coast"?
The best one I heard an op use this weekend: "Enjoy the rest of your day here at Cedar Point, The Coast with the Most!!"
