Another Urban Legend...

I heard a pretty good one today.

"Millennium Force is closed!!! It was swaying back and forth 40 feet, so they had to close it until they get the problem fixed."

The people that told me that were DEAD SET that it was 100% true, because, of course, "That's what someone told me!"

It's funny how these rumors are started so soon...

how about this one....

Raptor is closed because of the wind being to strong right now (opening day). which was true

Ok when will it open?

I didn't hear it at the Point, I heard it right here in my hometown (Ft. Wayne, IN). The person I heard it from implied that it "will be closed for weeks or even months"

Millennium Force, swaying? I highly doubt it. :-) It is obviously an "urban legend".

Where in Fort Wayne do you live? I live about 30 miles north of the Fort.
I heard on my tennis bus that MF was a 8 and 1/2 Hour wait. LOL. May 27, with school, we are finally going to CP (had this trip planned since school started). Today I asked my friends if they were going on MF and they said they weren't because someone died at the bottom of the hill. Where do these rumors start. What a bunch of wosses! I think only 4 people that are going to CP are riding MF, I will be one of them, what wosses!

Anyone who will be there on May 27, let me know if you want to meet somewhere and ride MF!!!

Heart attack and Died! Right!!

Wow! 3 Fort Wayners on this post so far, Im a Junior in High School From Fort Wayne!....ive heard the rumor that it was an 8 hour wait "shoulder to shoulder" directly from a park security guard in the MF queue yesterday!...i bet Cedar Point will sell MF because its sinking soon too!...

I frequently enjoy long walks in a park, and kicking the sky!
I bet my buddy $10 because he said that MF was closed until July. He said "The trains came back but the water dummies didn't and they can't find them." I tried real hard to not laugh so I could take the bet. I'll be at CP tomarrow to check out the 40ft. swaying rollercoaster! And oh ya I'm up 10 bucks. *** This post was edited by Stallion on 5/17/2000. ***
When I was in line today, there was a guy behind me explaining to his friends that they should try to get the yellow train because the magnetic propulsion is different in each of the trains. He said the blue and red have been clocked at 106mph but the yellow has been clocked at 120mph.
Swaying 40ft? Sounds like a great new element. I'm in!

Born in Toledo. God I miss CP.
Millenium Force probably does sway in the wind.
The Sears tower sways too, but they don't close it.
The Sears Tower only sways 12' in high winds and it's what, 1100' tall? I remember hearing the 12' thing from a tour of the tower I took way back in the mid-80's. Funny how some things stick. Anyhow, MF may sway a couple feet, but not 40'.

As a side note, this July I'll be about 25 miles north of Ft Wayne in Kendallville. Does that count for anything?
40 ft wow thats almost as good as the magnum sinking... it would never sway that much it is made to withstand up to 250 mph winds i believe (or somewhere around there)

-------------
oh don't worry, the first hill isn't all that baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadddddddddd!!!!!

i mean 150 mph

Millennium Force will be the next to sink!
I heard the dummies in yellow fell out in the lagoon. What a joke!

"the Force of the new Millennium will be felt by those who choose to seek it... Beyond words... bey
the cn tower in toronto sways up to 3 feet. all tall coasters or any tall freestanding structure needs to sway, or they will crack. the coaster thats swaying freaks all, that you can actually see swaying, is superman at sfo. man, now that thing sways!

I posted this mesage under a different topic but Ill put it here too. Someone had told me that MF is dangerous because,,,while testing the trains with water dummies in it ,they came back with no head or arms! I rolled for hours on this one, for if I do recall.......THERE ARE NO HEAD AND ARMS ON THEM! Its really funny how rumors fly!
Tohot2se you're right. Water dummies are basically "water jugs" they strap to the seats. Hence, no heads or arms.

Hey, this no joke. My daughter and I entered at the Soak City entrance on Tuesday 16th. I looked down and thought I saw some discarded trash. I looked a little harder and thought "Hey, theres fur on that thing", then I looked closer and there was FUR and TOENAILS on that "thing". It turned out that it was an "UNLUCKY RABBITS FOOT". Really it was the whole hip with some misc. bloody pieces parts still attached. I told the lady at the entrance and asked her if she wanted to take her broom over and sweep it up. She said nothing doing and called someone else to get it. I told my daughter we should take a picture of it, but she wanted no part of that either. One of the policemen said that all kinds of animals wander onto the point at night. I guess this one got so full that he couldn't finish the rest.
