Approx. times of "invasion of the winged ones"

I have been lucky in past years, by missing most of the winged wonders that converge on CP.

Our first trip this season, will be after Memorial day for a few days, and am wondering about the prospects of either bug making a presence?

Also, it appears that week of memorial day/Coastermania, has the school crowd booked as well.

Would it be better to go to the park that wednesday and thursday 5.30 and 5.31, or wait until the following monday/tuesday?

thank you

The bugs in question, namely midges and mayflies (oh my!) have their own little features cleverly placed in the "features" section of this site. Check it out!

A funny thing about those critters, they are resillant little things! We had a live one on our windshield that made it from Sandusky to Toledo on our car, and was still alive when we pulled up in the drive way! I smooshed him when I got out of the car......tee hee!

The more you ride it, the more you want it!

There were there when I went in June last year. If you are unlucky enough to be their when the bugs are tale this advice that I learned first-hand. No matter how pretty Mean Streak looks all lit up at night don't ever ride it at night.

Remember, line jumping is NOT a sporting event!
They are already here, although not in full force like they were at coastermania last year. I was at the Point 5-20 and there were small swarms here and there and some individual ones in the ride queues.

I hate to report it, but the midges are starting to appear in force already.

We have gone to Cedarpoint every year during the last week in june(this yr were going the 17th-23rd). With consistancy those little winged beings have plagued the midways yr after yr. and mabye this year..........oh well i cant get my hopes up that it will be any different. I wonder when they stop during the summer. anyone?
Any bug to me is better than mosquitos.
Jeff/others:

While having witnessed the 2 creatures, I always wonder what kind of time frame their being at CP in "mass".

What I mean, with 2 different types of insects, there is going to be overlapping, and what appears to be, a continual amount of them, but once they start showing-up in large quantities, when does each one start tapering-off, with less quantity? I have read about them here, and actually did a quick research on them on the net, in the past, and although they have short life-lines, their overall presence could be drawn-out quite a bit more.

Also, I am wondering what some of those will do at 90+ m.p.h. in a human eye? Will at least be interesting with all of the "attracting lights" and speed.

I witnessed more than my share of Muffleheads this past weekend-sworms of them all over my truck and again being "decoration" on the rest room walls-during the 1st week of June is when the bathroom walls color will be "black" just simply wall to wall-ceiling to floor BUGS.
Nasty critters
and not even good eatin either
