Does it mean you're an adult when you stop caring how you look to others and instead care only about your comfort? Or is that marriage?

What about single rider shoes?

Or single riders that wear velcro shoes?

If we ride the water rides in CP, I'm taking a pair of wal-mart special flip flops along with a change of clothes.

I can answer my own question. Per the 2011 Rider Safety Guide:

"Shoes
may be removed before riding Chaos, maXair, Raptor,
Power Tower, Skyhawk, Wave Swinger, Thunder
Canyon, Shoot the Rapids, Snake River Falls, Skyscraper,
Wicked Twister or WindSeeker."

Cedar Point requires shoes to be worn on a majority of their ride for a couple reasons. 1) for a the safety of guests while in the event of a shutdown/ride evacuation situation 2) to increase ride capacity.

If a roller coaster is stopped during a cycle and it is decided that a walk down from a lift/brake run is necessary, management wants the guests to be able to complete the evacuation process while wearing shoes to decrease the risk of injury.

Secondly, wearing shoes increases capacity by preventing on coming riders loading the train to make a mad dash to secure their shoes in a bin. It keeps people in their seat so ride hosts can dispatch the train.
