Best food OFF of the Point.

There was a lot of talk of food at CP proper. I would like to know what places off of CP itself people like eating at while in town?

I for one like "The Lunch Box" in downtown Sandusky. Nice food, decent service, and a pleasent escape from the noise. Lets me recharge my batteries before going back for more.

Its too bad the ferry boats arn't there anymore, it was nice taking the boat into town to eat.

We love to go to Damon's after a long day. It is a nice break and you can still see the park. It's fun to watch the headlights of the cars exiting the park after closing from Damon's.
MARGARITAVILLE!!!!! where else can you eat great mexican food right by a waterfall and look at huge trout all at the same time?

I second that vote for the Lunch Box. When I worked in downtown Sandusky, it was a frequent lunch spot. Berardi's is also a great choice.

We live in Michigan, and on the way to CP we always stop at the Big Boy in Toledo off of the highway, and I get the same thing A Strawberry Belgian (sp?) Waffle.

Dave, I'm curious as to why to avoid it. We had to eat there a few times during the season (there aren't many places open past when the employees get out) and I didn't think it was that horrible. Please, tell me, if it's terrible I won't eat there again this season!

Natalie...

The food was good, but did you check the URL I posted? Poor service is an epidemic on the North Coast. Actually, the only place on the North Coast where I have gotten bad *food* (mind you, I have never eaten at the infamous McDonald's) is the Big Boy in Port Clinton. The biggest problem seems to be lousy service, and Cedar Point's off-park restaurants are leading the pack in that category!

Hey RideMan I liked the article :) Guess I had better figure where my daughter are going to be eating "off of the point" as they say ;)
Well, when we were there towards the closing of last years season, a new Steak n Shake was about to open up, so I'm going to have to say that. GOD I LOVE THAT PLACE! They have the best milkshakes in the entire world, but I like applebee's too
I love Steak n shake too.

Theres an italian restaurant in the downtown area
by the old ferries to the point. That was a cool little place! On the way home in Toledo I stop at Ragtime Rick's on Glendale to eat the CP fries.(actual name of fries!)

I think that the Country Kitchen is no more. It was turned into a Wallaby's Brewpub a while ago.
Country Kitchen was still intact when I was there in December, but I haven't been there since then so I don't know.

When I went up the 19th of December, Country Kitchen was dead and there was some other place there in place of it. I dont know what the name of it was though. But it wasnt Country Kitchen, and i was told that the Denny's in Huron is dead too.

All I want to do is ride...the rollercoasters!
Kansas Wesleyan University

after a long day at the Po!nt, we always end up at T.G.I Fridays. Last season we tried the new one in the Breakers, but I think we'll go back to the one by the Radisson. You can't beat the unique atmosphere right on the water, plus the one in the Breakers has slower service and has become VERY busy...

tear down the Mean Streak and put up a roller coaster!
What time does the Whistle Stop open for Breakfast? If one were to want to show up in time for breakfast, and to get to the point in time for the gates to open?

And Berardi's, WHERE is that? I assume its desended from Ma Berardi's place on the point, which brought us the CP fries the current ones are supposed to be like.
