Cedarpoint announced on facebook that it's now 14 years in a row as "best park in the world"

I see that MF won the best steel coaster award too. All the I-305 v3 fans will be bummed.

Where can I find a complete list of all the golden ticket award winners?

I am a little surprised to see Magnum at only #10 on the list. Phantoms Revenge definitively didn't deserve #5 on the list.

Also, how did Chance Morgan get best ride supplier? They haven't built anything major in years.

Congrats to CP for being the best Amusement Park for 14 years in a row now!

I was very disappointed to see Cedar Point won yet again. There are plenty of other more deserving parks. Cedar Point is a great park and IMO, did deserve the award for a long time, but I feel that has changed in the last few years.

I kind of agree about Phantom's Revenge. I finally went to Kennywood this summer, and I thought Phantom's Revenge was great, but not #5 great.

Also, I wonder where I-305 fell in the top 50 for 2011. I thought it was a very decent ride, but it probably hurts that it has such a dull location. They need to add some trees, rock work, or something interesting.

I'm kind of disappointed to see diamondback fell out of the top 10, but as long as Milly is #1 i'm good because that is my favorite ride. Also IMO I don't think phantoms revenge should be that high

That list just shows that cedar point is Americas roller coast. 3 roller coasters in the top 10. No other park even has 2 in the top ten. I'm glad to see MF back at the top that is just one amazing coaster. It's also nice to see TTD come up to #9

I don't know how Kennywood got into the top 5/10 for so many things. IMO, the park feels rundown, has an okay at best Halloween event, and is overpriced with admission. Kennywood does have pretty good food though. The park just feels much different since it was sold to Palace Entertainment.

Lowkae's avatar

On the contrary, I notice no difference in Kennywood since it was sold to Palace.

Also on the contrary, I took my first visit to Kennywood in late August, and I felt the park was extremely well kept. I actually was expecting the place to be run down but commented to my friend how shockingly nice everything was (and the place was crowded).

I think a telltale sign of maintenance is how many burnt out lights you find at night. I found hardly any at Kennywood on my visit...even on the grand entrance way of rides like Racer.

Also, I too am disappointed by Diamondback not making the top 10. It's a great ride. Sadly, I think it's B&M's cloning that got it dropped off the list. When you have Diamondback, Behemoth, Carowinds Intimidator, etc., how do you pick which makes it in the top 10. As a result, they all get dropped.

I don't think that the "New" Texas Giant should have won best new ride of the year... Its not new

Umm, have you even seen what they did to the Texas Giant? I haven't been on the new version myself, but it is most certainly a new ride experience.

New Texas Giant is certainly new; it's not just new track covering an existing layout. I'm just going to go out on a limb you are speaking from zero actual experience, a a majority of the layout was modified along with the new track. Aside from the location and some old wood, it is a brand new ride. Even saying it's a new "experience" is an understatement.

Imagine starting with Mean Streak and ending up with El Toro.

Cedar Point won with the lowest percentage of votes since 2001 and lowest margin that it has had (in multiple years) in as far as I have been able to determine.

2011 - CP gets 23% of vote and wins by 10% margin

2010 - CP gets 26% of vote and wins by 15% margin

2009 - CP gets 27% of vote and wins by 14% margin

2008 - CP gets 26% of vote and wins by 10% margin

2007 - CP gets 33% of vote and wins by 23% margin

2006 - CP gets 37% of vote and wins by 27% margin

2005 - CP gets 37% of vote and wins by 23% margin

2004 - CP gets 35% of vote and wins by 20% margin

2003 - CP gets 30% of vote and wins by 15% margin

2002 - CP gets 28% of vote and wins by 10% margin

2001 - CP gets 21% of vote and wins by 12% margin

I'm not positive about 2001's results and couldn't find any earlier results

Only a 10% margin of victory? After adding Dinos Alive next year, that will surely be cut in half. Cedar Point is slipping.

Maverick00's avatar

It'll be cut in half next year but it'll more than triple when we get our coaster in 2013 ;)

As long as they spend the most in advertising with Amusement Today, they'll get the top spot.
