Breaker's Express

I recently stayed at the breakers express and had a excellent
stay. There are some changes i would make if i were in
charge of hotel facilities. I would add a food court featuring
variety of deli sandwiches and pizza etc. Desserts such as
ice cream sundaes, different types of cake, pie. I would also
have a shuttle bring hotel guest's to and from the park at
least once per hour till one hour after park closing. A friend
of mine stayed at disney's value resort and they offer these
services. What does everybody think? Have a nice day.

I've always liked BE. That's where I've stayed the majority of my trips with the exception of one stay at Hotel Breakers and a couple of off the point hotels. I always defended the place against people who didn't speak favorably about it, but the last couple of trips, it seems like they've really started to go downhill. The service and housekeeping has been very subpar, in my opinion. Still a very good value, nice and clean, but they should probably make some improvements in the employee department.

And it probably won't take Mr. Scott too terribly long to chime in about Lighthouse Point after reading this sort of topic.

We stayed at B.E. on Memorial Day and it is a pretty good hotel. It could use a microwave, refrigerator, adjustable shower head, a fan in the bathroom, and a plastic baggie for the ice bucket. But these are all minor things, and considering the fact that most guests will only be awake while in the rooms for a couple hours per day, it a great budget hotel. The early entry was great; the pool looked decent, but we never had time to swim in it. Also, the breakfast cart was a nice thought, but we ended up buying hot pretzels at the park by 10am because a single donut and a juice isn't an adequate breakfast. Overall, I would say that this is the best value "on-site" hotel. It is full of perks, including the 07 track sitting in the adjacent field ;).

I've stayed at BE before and i thought it was a great hotel for the money. Definately a great price for a place to pretty much "rest your head". Last time we were there we did use the pool and hot tub after the park was closed and it was a great way to wind down. I'm never really a breakfast person anyhow so the breakfast don't bother me.

I already made my reservation to go back to BE this year. I wanted to go to breakers for the first time but they didn't have a package deal for August when i was going. I'll be there Aug 7-9 at the min this year.

I've stayed at BE a couple of times and had good times. It's inexpensive and clean.

But, nothing beats being able to walk (or take the on Point shuttle) back to your cabin or cottage, throw some charcoal on the grill, and relax on your deck or patio.

More privacy and space than a hotel room, too.

I totally agree with Mr Scott, Lighthouse Point rules!!

Not everyone can afford Light House Point... This thread is also about B&E not LHP and some people are just looking for a place to crash.

LHP aside, I just got home from a 2 night stay at Breakers Express.

The parking issue is ridiculous. I'm staying at a Cedar Point resort (so says my key, brochure and anything else I had related to the hotel) so I should get the same parking advantages as LHP, Breakers and Sandcastle.

We were there for Coastermania, and there is no way we were going to stay all day. We drove all night to get there, planned on getting morning ERT and then head back to the hotel and rest before going back in the evening. However, Cedar Point wants me to pay for parking if I leave and come back more than once. I'm already paying them for a hotel, admission and food. One you pay for parking, you should be able to come and go as you please for the day you paid for.

Also, there is no room service. BOOOOO! The continental breakfast should be free and they need to learn how to test the fire alarms at a later point in the day instead of 10 am. (see my coastermania trip report for more)

Really, my only gripe is parking and the lack of room service. It's a nice clean place to stay and the price is great for being on a budget or just looking for a place to crash. *** Edited 6/3/2006 3:56:26 PM UTC by Coastern3rd***

My stay at BE was relatively nice, other than the fact that we couldn't get the room to the right temp... It was either way too cold, or way too humid...

That and it took 30 minutes for the tub to drain... yuck...

I stayed at Express twice last year, one night each time. I have no complaints about the place. The rooms were as clean as Hotel Breakers and noticeably newer.

However, if we visit for more than one night, which we almost always do, we'll stay at Hotel Breakers. Nothing beats the convenience of being within walking distance, and being able to walk back to the hotel midday to take a break.

We haven't tried Lighthouse Point yet, but maybe we'll give it a shot later in the summer. For just me and my son, I don't know if it's worth getting a cabin...

It's worth it. And better than Hotel Breakers.

Of course you would say that MrScott ;)

Coastern3rd,

Don't the parking tickets still have the little detachable part at the bottom? You use that to get in and out of the parking lot once without paying again.

What does everybody think of having a food court at the
breakers express and a shuttle? Thanks for your response.

Shuttle, yes. Foodcourt, no.

The tickets are still have the detachable part. But I left and came back 4 times yesterday, spending a total of roughly $30 for parking. *** Edited 6/3/2006 11:49:15 PM UTC by Coastern3rd***

$30.00 for parking in one day?!?

You should have stayed at Lighthouse Point (where parking is free)!

Remember that time that Mrs. Scott followed all your posts up with some annoying message? Yeah, you're kind of getting like that.

Breakers Express is a great little hotel. However, after my stay at the Maples motel down the road this weekend, I am converted and will always stay at the Maples, during it's open season.

Do they have room service? Cheaper? they don't run the fire alarm tests before noon?

What makes them better?
