Cedar Points Classic Cyclone!

I know Cyclone was built back in the early 1930s and was torn down in the 1950s. If we could ever bring it back in the park, where would Cedar Point build it? Maybe if it ever was rebuilt it would be taller then the original. I also like the idea of making it a hybird woodie. Make the structure steel with wooden track.

I like those hybrid woodies. They don't really take up mich space.

Though my vote is still for a new steel coaster in 07!:)

Good idea, maybe they should build a new Schwabinchen too. Defunct rides should remain defunct rides, no matter how good they were.

^ Why is that?

I'd like to add that if it ever did become a reality, now I"m saying IF here. It would replace wonderful Disaster Transport. I think that would be a perfect location. Does anyone know how tall the original was?

I think a rebuild of the CP Cyclone would be great, and the perfect place would be on the beach replacing Disaster Transport.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Gomez why do you think that? I would love to see the Cyclone or the Pirate Ride(updated of course) or the SanFrans Earthquake ride come back(or any dark ride for that matter!). There has been some great rides, and some rides that looked great that used to be at Cedar Point that I for one wouldn't mind seeing come back.

It would be fantabulous if they were to reincarnate the Pirate Ride... update it and possibly make it larger and voila! A wonderful 'new' dark ride. Fun for the whole family!

I suppose I should chime in considering my namesake...

I thought rebuilding the Cyclone along with a couple other nostalgic rides like the Whip and Tumble Bug would have been a great idea back in the '90's when the area of the park by Disaster Transport needed a make-over. It would have gone along great with a new boardwalk theme. They could have even marketed the area like "Lost Kennywood" Maybe..."Cedar Point Memories"? Well, that idea is dead now that Wicked Twister, MaXair, and the Giant Wheel have invaded. Oh well, maybe when the new rides get worn out and big band swing becomes a fad again or the planets align, Cedar Point will consider it.

Maybe with the addition of GW & MA, a hybrid (even though I think they're kinda weird lookin') could really fit in very nicely. They could sort of make it like a coney island type area, with the games area, and some kickin' flat rides, and throw in a boardwalk with some cool stuff (i.e. family-friendly entertainment) and a hybrid that runs around and perhaps down that side of the park near the beach.

They could create some valuable real estate back there.

Out with the old in with the new. If CP were to have a wooden coaster I'd like to see a GCI or GG build a twisted track layout that is orginal. Though I'm a person who likes everything new.

I have a question? What does GG stand for?

The new, and amazing kid on the block, Gravity Group. Creators of Hades and Voyage at Mt. Olympus and Holiday World respectively. I would love to see the CP Cyclone resurected in the place of DT. And since Gomez likes everything to be new, it can be taller, use steel supports, and have a twister section that is the Cyclone and then an out and back section along the beach with some good airtime. And to add to it, the layout could be done by GCI and the supporting done by GG. Wow, that would be crazy.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I like your idea dude. That is the Idea of the week!! Although when you say Twister track what do you mean? Im thinking along the lines of the track being tilted at 90 degrees. Someone correct me if I"m wrong.

^GG (Gravity Group) has done amazing work with Hades and yes they have banked wooden track at 90 degrees. GCI has made rides that can twist every which way like a modern steel coaster and still provide a nice smooth ride.

The supports on Hades isn't what make it good. The steel makes the price go down and less room.

Why install a older style ride when we could have a awesome, new, orginal, fun, fast, and twisted coaster.

I think Hades is awsome!! That tunnel is the best part, it's huge!!!
And that 90° turn in it....wow!

forget the cedar point cyclone bring back the Crystal Beach Cyclone. though the ride is only about 40 seconds it would be a great ideal thing to have near the beach. i mean look at this thing its great and was ahead of its time

if the picture is crap just type in crystal beach cyclone in to google

No I'm not saying lets rebuild the Cyclone from Scratch, I'm saying lets rebuild it and make it taller like the original cyclone and maybe throw in a different layout after the second hill. Maybe add a couple tight turns like what hades and voyager are doing. So really this would mean you are bringing part of the classic back but with todays style!

The Crystal Beach Cyclone and Cedar Point Cyclone were both designed by the same person, Harry Traver.

I think with GCI's success at ressurecting classic coaster designs this project would be more feasible now than when it was rumored in the 90's. Now if only Cedar Fair could see the profitability in it.
