CP expansion mystery...

Across from the shop formerly known as the Gemini Gift Shop, behind the Dodgem building, adjacent to the Camp Snoopy entrance with the six flags (coincidence??), there has been some recent construction. A tree has come down, the embankment railings have been pushed back, and a big new concrete slab has been poured. Sunday there were railings in front of the slab.

Anybody know what's up?

When you ride the train you see a bit of cleared land with some holes in the ground. Perhaps the two spots are related.

Remember, line jumping is NOT a sporting event!
maybe thats where the rock climbing will go.
Dave, I saw the area also and it looks like an area which will be used by the characters, (Charlie Brown, Snoopy etc)back in the Camp Snoopy area. This would be better than having the characters walking around amongst the little ones in Camp Snoopy. Let the masses come over and hug the characters in a controlled environment.
I was back there today, and there were holes cut into the concrete it looks like they're going to put in some lights.

Could lights be angled up towards the overbanked turn on the island?

Are we talking about the spot that is right across from the waterfall, with Snoopy rocking in the boat back and forth. I'm talking about a spot across from that. It's right in front of the Dodgem entrance. I was sweeping back there today, and there were these cirlces that were cut into the concrete, and they went a couple of feet down into the ground. There was like a little wooden fence around it. I saw a guy in there today cutting pieces of wood for something. Then along the back of this little fence the part that's closest to the Dodgem entrance, I saw what looked like a long circular piece of concrete. This was right over by the Paddle Wheel Excursions entrance.

I bet hothitz is right and that area will be for the rock climbing wall.
i had heard that the rock climbing wall was going into challenge park
Matt has the right idea...at least he's talking about the same general area that I am. I don't remember the circular bit, though, and it's actually behind the Dodgem entrance, as the Dodgem entrance is, if memory serves, on the side facing Magnum. This is the side facing the gift shop. The space isn't real big; my first thought was that it is about the right size for one of those guessing games, except that there is already one located right around the corner from it.

(sudden scary thought)

Omigod. I hope it isn't another one of those Zamperla electronic Hi-Striker games like over by the Space Spiral. You know, "Step right up, folks, and play the Most Annoying Game in the World!"...

That has always been there. Isn't that where the maze was during Halloweekeneds? The fence and the holes are new though.

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
My wife seen the area cleared by the train...She said that there were the look of tracks being rerouted and possibly some buildings erected - like moving part of the bone town displays.....I didnt see it, but it sounds interesting if she seen it correctly....

Train? The area isn't anywhere remotely close to the train.

The concrete is fresh as of last week, just across from the canoe/waterfall between Dodge-em and Paddlewheel. It is where the straw maze was (though that was done on grass).

Oh it's probably nothing. Why would they add something now?

Not to scare Dave, but when they added Hi Striker in 1994, it was done in the middle of the season. As I recall, back then they were very interested in adding another one.

Gemini, I'm well aware that the High Striker was added mid-season. I remember a friend emailing me about it and noting that the prize was a big inflatable sledgehammer, which he suggested might come in handy for splitting inflatable firewood...

What I noticed about the space was that there was a large rectangular space in the middle which appeared to be level, but that there were no utilities at that point...the only utilities provided were an electrical conduit sticking up through the new concrete along the right edge (the angled side) of the space.

Could this possibly be a spot for another kiddie ride?
I think everyone missed what CP_Genious said:

"Could lights be angled up towards the overbanked turn on the island?"

I wouldn't be surprised if they are adding more lights for the turns on Millennium Force, which may complete the lighting scheme. That makes the most sense to me, but then again, it's me we're talking about here.:)
I saw this spot on Tuesday and there were 2 park ops guys and another who looked like he was explaining something to them. The ops I have never seen before and other guy looked like he was throwing out some spiel like he was selling them on an idea. Not really sure what was going on but could it be some new type of flat ride in the making.

It would be really hard to light something that far away in such a manner, as common sense would dictate, that's why no one responded. You don't need a large concrete pad for lighting and it would be difficult to point lights through people and other rides.
