Death 7/17/12?

Went to cedar point on Tuesday, man was it hot. Probably 105 with heat index. We were seeing ems people driving around all day to people who either passed out or needed medical attention because of the heat. There was one golf cart that drove by that caught all of our attention though. It was driving right down the middle of the park by the antique cars. There was a person laying down on it where the stretcher is, but was covered up head to toe with a white blanket. First thing we could think of is the person had to have died because there's no way they would cover an alive person in 100 degree weather. I don't know what the cause was, but I'm going to assume it was the heat but it could have been heart attack or anything. But never less its still sad. I was kinda surprised they just drove right through the middle of the park like that. Was anyone else there that day who saw it?

I would imagine that if someone died at the park, there would be a lot of police involved and they would have an actual ambulance there and not the little golf cart one.

Maybe the ems drenched the blanket it cold water and just covered the person with the blanket to cool them off.

I don't know.. Ems would know better than to cover someone up if it were heat related no matter if the blanket was wet or not . and the entire time I watched them drive by the person didn't move at all. Not even a little twitch from what I could see. Plus they were driving toward the back of the park, I would figure that if it were something that need medical attention right away they were be driving to the front? But if someone is already pronounced dead then there's no point in that. And just because someone died doesn't necessarily mean that lots of cops would have to be involved. Especially if it was something natural like that, and I'm assuming that cedar point police and ems were probably already on scene when the person if the person was pronounced dead

Even if a person was pronounced dead they would still transport them in an ambulance to the hospital.

If the person was passed out from the heat there wouldn't be much movement. I agree with you that it's strange they covered their face but I doubt there was a death. If there was we'll see it in the news. That's not something they can keep quiet.

They may have covered their face due to the privacy of the guest.

I hope this person is okay!

Direct from the Mayo Clinic on what to do for a Heat Stroke

Cool the person by covering with damp sheets or by spraying with cool water. Direct air onto the person with a fan or newspaper.

I would guess there is a special cloth than can hold cold quite well.. and with the wind from the moving golf cart I bet it could lower someone body temp pretty well.

If someone were to die, they would transport them to the closest backstage area where an ambulance could meet them. They would not drive through the park very far considering there is almost always a gate near by. When you saw them they were probably heading to the back because of how the park is divided by the Safety Department. The front half of the park is covered by Main First Aid while the back of the park is covered by the Fire Office/Frontier First Aid. Actual ambulances are kept at both locations or transport to a hospital.

Yeah they were driving pretty fast towards the back/frontier land area, I just thought it was surprising the way they did it, right down the midway like that. I should have followed to see where it went, regardless hopefully the person is okay
