Demon Drop Goes Bye Bye

I heard a rumor recently that the Demon drop would be sent on its way, to the Mall of America. This would free up space at the front of the park for a new ride, plus, give another Cedarfair park (Camp Snoopy) a decent thrill ride. Even if this is untrue, I believe it would be a good idea. What do you think?

Even though I prefer riding Demon Drop to Power Tower, I wouldn't be surprised if such a thing happened. Demon Drop doesn't really take up that much space. Combine that with some parking lot space and then you've got room for a coaster.

This one promulgated doubtless by the folks who think that Power Tower has rendered Demon Drop obsolete.

DD occupies one of the smallest footprints of any ride at CP, so even if CP had a space problem (insert standard disclaimer here) DD would do little to remedy that.

Secondly, DD is 131 feet tall. I don't have stats on the height of the ceiling at MOA, but my best recollection says that it's probably about 60 feet.

Finally, although Valleyfair is less than a half hour from MOA, they got a Power Tower this year. If you're pulling out DD because of CP's PT, you're certainly not going to put it into a park that has one.

PS. The Magnum is not sinking.

Coming soon to an amusement park near you.
Just like Scott said, I love Demon Drop more than Power Tower, I try to ride it whenever I'm in the front of the park. The ride takes up such a small footprint, if they were going to build something up there, they could always work around it.

Don't forget the line is also minimal compared to the Tower.

Oops... I rode it again!
How long are the usual waits for Demon Drop?? I haven't ridden it in a LONG time!

Welcome back Raptor riders, how was your flight?
45 minutes is the longest I have waited. Now look they Space thing, All I have to say is "STOP LOOKING AT THE MAP TO SEE HOW MUCH SPACE CEDAR POINT HAS" If you see the actual park they have plenty of space for roller coasters. I think the rumor section of CP place should be reopened

Millennium Force Ride Count:0
Let me chime in here to kick this "rumor" in the can also...

Other reasons not to remove DD besides previously stated:

-The ride experience is totally different on Demon Drop compared to Power Tower. All work is done solely by acceleration due to gravity, a negative g feeling that some people prefer to turbo drops which do not accelerate at -9.8 m/s. Rather they are shot down at constant speeds generated by compressed air in this case. Near the bottom, the rider is thrown into a rather tight pull-out providing some very nice g's as you land on your back.

-Why have one less ride for the world record ride count.

-Adds nicely to a rather flat and unbalanced skyline in the front of the park.

-The landscaping around DD is...well...quite charming.

OK...think this through with me....

Take in all of the above points made above:

Camp Snoopys vicinty to VF, small footprint, etc.

Now think about how loud Demon Drop is.

Now put this very loud ride INSIDE in an enclosed, indoor area. You wouldn't be able to have a conversation in the entire park with that thing running.

People complained enough about the amount of noise ripsaw makes, and thing goes about 30mph tops.

And now that I think about it, I think (not postive) that Demon Drop is taller than the roof in Mall of America. Might pose a small problem.

I was recently to the MOA. Their indoor coaster (approximately 70 foot first hill) was close to the ceiling. Thus, in no way, shape or form could DD fit inside.

Definitely has to be a rumor that DD is on its way to MOA. I cannot see how it could be true.
I like DD, we rode it 2 times opening day, its a fun ride. Don't get me wrong, I love Power Tower, but DD is a totaly differnt ride. Plus, I seriously doubt they would move that loud ride to an indoor location.
