Dodgem, or Dodgem 2?

Which one do you prefer? I like the Second one because of it's size. Of course the originals locations is great.

(This isn't as pathetic as some of the other favorites that have been topics in the past.)

Neither! CP's dodgems have so many cars crammed in there and everybody goes every possible direction that it is way too easy to get stuck in a huge jam. I have always thought that the dodgem rides with a center island that forces everyone to go around in a circle the same direction make for a better flow.
Honestly, I love the location of both, but I never got a thrill on CP's dodgems...so I don't ride them. The style of the one over by Magnum is cool.
But can you get into head ons if they had an island?

How many people know that Dodgem 2 is actually older than Dodgem 1? Dodgem 2 was built as part of the "Million Dollar Midway" in 1970, as the second Dodgem ride in the park. The original was in a building that stood where Midway Market is now. It was a ride that used the Lusse cars and had a center island, as someone suggested that the present ride gets.
I don’t like Dodgems with a center island, but CP does use too many cars. I was at Kennywood and the Dodgem had about half as many cars as CP. Plenty of room to get lots of speed and ram someone head-on:)
Well, I guess it is harder to get into head ons with an island but isn't head on colliding technically prohibited?
Some center islands have a rotating tire on the ends to "kick" out cars that get in a bind. The Dodgems at the old amusement section of Nay Aug Park (Scranton PA) had such a system. I've rarely gotten a good ride on CP's dodgems except for times when the park is empty and there aren't as many people riding them. I guess if I had to choose, Dodgem 2 is a better ride, maybe its just the cars that are more visually appealing. *** This post was edited by Joe on 6/26/2000. ***
Asking people not to go head on on bumper cars is like asking people not to hold there hands up on roller coasters (oh wait, they are doing that too).
