Drop Time

I have no idea if this is true, but before you all attack me, just let me ask. As you know I'm the trader of the board, I have never been within 1000miles of CP. I do however live less then a mile from every CP lovers 2nd favorite park, SFMM. You've all been on MF, where as I have not, and I'm going to assume that not many of you have been of Goliath. So heres the question, I have been told by several people that the drop of Goliath is better, due to it's long time. For those of you who don't know, the drop on Goliath, is almost a full 7 seconds, which is a long time to fall. I've heard the drop on MF only lasts 4 seconds, so I'm left wondering, how could a 255 foot drop be better then 310? It don't think that is possible, but for the record, how long does the drop on MF last for?

Although I have not been up there I calculated the drop time at aproxametly 3.25 seconds.

Millennium Force is a lot more Steeper and alot faster.

Taking the same question to a ridiculous extreme, a 100 foot drop at a 10 degree angle would take a much longer time, but I doubt anyone would call it "better". :)

I'm quite sure that both rides are awesome. I haven't ridden Goliath yet though:)

I did the math and I got about 4 seconds, but the angle of descent is probably what makes Goliaths hill so long.

Goliath's drop looks pretty huge just cuz it has that long straight drop since it isnt as steep... my favorite part of magnum's hill is in the back seat cresting over the top, once it gets to the 60 degree part it is fun, but not as gut wrenching... so i think having a long straight drop isnt as cool cuz i like being pulled over the top... and i must say, i have been to SFMM and it is nowhere near Cedar Point on my list of favorite parks, but that is my opinion

MF's drop seems short because it's so steep. I have been to SFMM but I went right before they started construction on Goliath so it wasn't there when I went. I noticed that about Magnum also. It's drop seemed longer than MF's but I still love MF's because of the EXTREME height at the top. And I do mean extreme! From the crest of the hill, it's almost surreal that you're about to fall from such a height. And secondly, because of the steepness. It feels like you're curving underneath the hill, for real! This makes the drop incredible. I bet Goliath's is longer, but I can appreciate MF's better. And it's not just because CP is my home park because I'll gladly admit when something is better elsewhere than at Cedar Point. Riddler is definately much better and longer than Mantis and Batman is a very close second to Raptor. And I mean VERY close.

I would love to ride MF and really judge for myself, I like the length of the Goliath drop, but I would think the steepness of MF would be great. Also, I heard the mention of the surreal felling. That was my first thought of the Goliath drop, is that it was surreal. I bet I would love MF, since I am a Lateral G lover. I much rather be pinned in my seat, then be floating, and MF looks to give great Lat's. Damn I hate being jelious of CP :)

I have the Goliath POV on tape, and it's not seven seconds long. Not even close. I'd give it four seconds tops. With the huge pull-out on Goliath and the huge hill crest on MF, there could be a lot of debate about when the drop really starts and ends.

I gotta admit Allen, I'm kinda jealous too. I went to SFMM for once and Goliath wasn't even built yet. I probably won't go for a while so I'll be waiting a while to experience Goliath. That and I'm suffering from Psyclone/Viper/Revolution witddrawals. I don't know why I liked those three the best. Probably because they were unlike anything I've ever been on before.
