Early Entry Enforcement?

I recently sent a message through the Cedar Point Contact link expressing my concern over whether early entry policies were being enforced.and did receive a quick reply:

I submitted some comments more than a week ago about our recent trip, and didn't receive any reply whatsoever. That's incredibly annoying.

Last year I emailed a complaint when no one showed up to let us in for Millennium Walkback. Never got a response on that either.

Yesterday everyone was scanned in and allowed entry after the National Anthem.

Today at the Soak City entrance all guests were allowed past the turnstiles. We were kept behind portable blue gates until the National Anthem played. The gates were rolled away, there was no checking of your early entry.

I know this doesn't have to do with this topic, but do they always scan your season pass at the parking toll both? Last Friday they just looked at it at that was it.

On preview night and opening day they only looked at ours and waved us through. On another visit a couple weeks later they scanned it one day and looked at it the next.

It usually depends on how long the line of cars is. Sometimes they will even print me a receipt. I'm also guessing that it depends on the laziness of the particular employee.

We just got home after four days at the park. Used the resort entrance, soak city entrance, and the marina entrance for early entry (different days) and never once were asked for our resort cards. Just scanned our season passes, and said Have a Great Day! Hope I get one of those surveys.

It looked like the early entry rules were being strictly enforced today.

Maybe not the same thing, but Maverick was not included in morning ERT for coastermania (only resort/PP), but they were letting everyone on at 9am.

We are season pass holders, not platinum. This past weekend stayed at Lighthouse, and did early entry at the resort gate once, Windseeker gate once, and marina gate once. Not one time were we asked for resort pass. Everyone gets in at 9. Doesn't seem like a perk to me.

Realistically, what percentage of people coming in that entrance are not staying at the resort, or not platinum passholders? I suspect few, if any.

We were there this past weekend. They are checking over by Raptor. You have to show your platinum pass or early entry resort ticket to get past Raptor/Johnny Rockets or show it to the ride host at the entrance of Raptor to ride.

I'm sure that covers the vast majority of people getting in the park in the morning. I do think it is a bit disappointing that they don't enforce their own policies, but honestly it has been that way as far back as the Joe Cool Club days.

The decades old trick of parking in the Soak City lot still is a winner I guess.

What Jeff said. If a few folks out of a thousand entering the park aren't actually qualified to be there -- is it worth the effort to patrol against them?

I guess I don't see how it's that difficult to patrol. When the guests enter at any gate, either they have a resort pass or PP or they they wait until 10 to enter. Why do they need to be in the park at all before 10 only to have someone stopping to ask for credentials when it can be easily checked at the gate?

Geesh, the one "entitlement" commoner passholders and resort guests have and we have to share it with everyone and not begrudge it. But guard that $15 fireworks spot on the beach like it's Fort Knox! :D

I guess I can understand if they only are enforcing at the main gate. As Jeff said, that is where the majority of the public enters the park. The only reason I know about the resort gate is from working at the park and being a CP 'enthusiast' for so many years. Does anyone know if early entry is being enforced at the Marina or Beach entrances?

No, Chris49 posted above that all gates other than the front gate do not appear to be enforcing early entry.

Do you just tell the parking gate person that you are going to Soak City to go park back there and use the resort gate? Does it not matter that Soak City doesn't open for a while still (assuming showing up for 9am ERT)?

Thats exactly what you do. Most people that know that already have platinum passes I expect.

But I still wonder - if I'm a guest staying at the resorts and I have a regular season pass (not platinum)... I don't need to buy resort price tickets that include early entry on them since I already have a pass. So if I show up at the Magnum Gate with my regular pass I should be able to get in for early entry with that pass since (in theory) I stayed at the resorts the previous night. They can't verify that though. At least not in a way that makes logistical sense.

Just a small loophole.
